I'm currently finishing up training here at CPZ and I think the reason why there were only 4 is due to lack of instructors. CPZ is very short on instructors. So I believe shortening the class so the backlog doesn't get worse is my guess. Just my opinion

idk what everyone is so shocked about, this seems to be the typical route for compass, they hire like mad in the spring and summer, and then up their mins for fall and winter , last year around this time they interviewd people with less than 500 hours and then raised it to part 121 time required after XJT was on the fritz with people jumping ship, wouldnt be surprised to see it happen again especially with AE in limbo

I live in San Francisco which airline would provide better QOL. Sfo skywest in would be on reserve forever and heard that compass all the new guys get a line very soon and The commute to sfo lax is cake.
Any inputs would appreciate it
QUOTE=saturn;1847171]Skywest has short and long term disibility. They do have better retirement and medical. They have a ton of 50 seaters which will fade out sometime, perhaps offset if they can find homes for the 250ish firm aircraft they have on order. Compass has explosive movement until the end of the year and few lifers. Lets pat all ourselves on the back and finish the cup of Koolaid. Both are subcontractors for major airlines whose very existence is based on being under compensated.
Pick whichever gives a good QOL, be smart with the little money you earn, have fun on the overnights, be cool to your coworkers, travel a bit, and pursue the next great opportunity when it comes.

I have a friend at skywest with about a year seniority and a line in SFO. On the ERJ. SFO is probably possible for a new hire within a few months of hire. Things are moving here. Commuting sucks, loads can change last minure without warning, and it's half the stress of the job. My advice would be to avoid commuting if at all possible.

Sick long term? Have you seen Compass's long term sick compensation? It doesn't exist.
BTW I"m pretty excited about Compass and the opportunities we have here. We are in a better position than 9E and I am not afraid to admit it. TSH is hiring at a good clip and they really didn't have to start paying for hotels yet because we are still filling classes. The only dept that is lacking is the training dept. Not enough instructors...we have enough pilots.

Anyone have any advice on how to get a call back from compass. Besides keeping AirlineApps updated. Been trying for some time now, I meet the mins for an R-atp, have about 65 multi. Would love to be Seattle or LA based. Any tips would be great!

Hmm, that's really odd. I am at 1375, 25 multi, I sent my app in on Friday, had an interview offer this morning and my travel details a few hours later. Is your driving record/checkride failures minimal?

Driving record is clean, and failed my commercial checkride. I've been going over and over the app trying to find things wrong with it, found a few minor errors. Hoping to get that call soon!
