There's always someone who can't take a joke. After ELEVEN, 11, 10+1, 12-1, 711 minus the 7 years of in the regional world I like making jokes about it. I'm glad you're impressed. I don't impress many people.

lol, I'm floating in a pool so I'll be gone soon. With that said, I'm a huge fan of our crews and that's why I like Compass so much. So I wish good things for everyone. Being positive is hard to do sometimes. We need good news.

Default Brief Update on 'the Saga'?

I've been following this fine thread for a couple years now...good stuff.

I hold a CJO from CPZ for a summer ground school and have to make plans to commit or not. I wanted to get a brief update on a few troublesome issues that generated hundreds of posts on this forum, but discussions/gripes seem to have gone silent lately. They are:

* The changeover to the new crew scheduling system - still a Charlie Foxtrot or has the system now been fixed?

* The loss of MSP base - this consolidation seems like not a good thing but it's no longer discussed (??).

* A giveback of some ERJs - this again seems like not a good thing but it's no longer discussed (??). I assume the math is that the loss of jets means everyone flys less? What are the future prospects?

(Aside: I recently interviewed with SkyWest and recruiters seemed a bit smug about what has happened with Compass recently. Should I assume from this that the jets Compass lost were re-purposed to SkyWest?)

Ultimately, the question is: is Compass still a good place to join as a new FO?

Sorry for the noob questions... I are one.

Here's my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

1 - Still a cluster****, not much new there

2 - Depending on where you live determines if it's a good or bad thing. If you live/want to be based in LAX or SEA it can be seen as a good thing. Our flying isn't dropping at all, its just being repositioned to be based out of LAX or SEA, so those two bases will theoretically see an increase in flying. To what extent remains to be seen. If you live in MSP, I would quite frankly look elsewhere for employment.

3 - The return of the 170s is now officially over, so we'll get a better idea over the next few months what the flying is going to look like between bases. I personally think that the return of the 170s makes a bit more sense now that we know about MSP closing. There aren't any solid future prospects for new flying right now, but things can change quickly. It's also hard to say if "everybody will fly less" because we don't really know what the company's route structure is going to look like post-MSP closure. And no, the 170s went to Republic, not SkyWest.

Is Compass good place for you? Depends on what your goals are.
To your Qs
- changing software that people are use too is always a PITA. It is done, we ain't going back so you learn how to use it. They are continuing to improve it, so that is a big plus, it tells me management does listen to us. By time you get on line and use it there will be more changes , so I say this should be no concern to you.
-MSP base closing only effects you if you were planning to be in MSP
All the flying will shift out to the west were Delta wants it.
-the 6 jets are already gone, so no effect going forward. I say that because if we are hiring that means they need pilots to fill the schedule

So depends what you want
At CPZ, you are guaranteed to fly the 175, get LAX or SEA as a base, 4 hotels a month if you want them. The rest is probably similiarmto Skywest.

Bravo to you sir for knowing how to start some stuff back up!! . Let's see where this goes.... in the meantime, my .05 cents as a junior FO:

1.) IOCC is still an absolute nightmare, I'd rather not say anything else about it, gives me anxiety.

2.) I really can't say anything about MSP other than my completely un-educated and out of the hat opinion on the matter, which is.......It sucks for MSP guys, but it *COULD* work in the west coast guys favor as a lot of senior MSP peeps who have been content might bail now and send us airplanes without crews. Not holding my breath, just trying to be optimistic.

3.) The 6 170s are gone as of this month.

4.) Lastly, all I can do is tell you my opinion which is CP is a cool job. Good equipment, west coast bases, and great crews. But who knows where stuff is going to go. I came to CP from another 121 for a SEA base and a quick upgrade and now I'm sitting RSV in LAX for the unforeseeable future. However, I've been in the industry long enough to know there are worse places to be stuck on RSV. I'm kinda waiting to see how MSP changes things this fall before pulling the trigger on bailing.

I know I prolly didn't help much, but hopefully some.
