Lockdown and Civil Unrest Discussion

I’m convinced I had this at the end of February beginning of March.
I had a dry cough that just came on for no reason i felt lethargic and would occasionally have shortness of breath. With current events in my life it was easy to explain the tired occasional short of breath feeling. About every third day or so I felt a little sick but never got a fever. After about 2 weeks it all cleared up. It was so mild I didn’t even notice the symptoms had vanished......I’ll probably never be tested but I would like too just to know. My entire family was fine, the wife felt sick a couple times but each time the feeling was gone within 24hours.
we can’t keep living in fear, if you are to scared to leave your house and go to work then stay at home as long as you can until the mortgage comes due.

I personally have had enough. I care no more for statistics, opinions, medical professionals, or where this thing started or came from. I'm willing to accept the risk.
I want my job. I want this company to survive. I want to grow and get back to normal, whatever that new normal may be regarding passengers. I want all restrictions removed. I sympathize with anyone who died, had family who passed away or got sick. I highly respect the beneficial information someone like Motch posted. My heart goes out to the family members who may die and those who may get sick in the future. Biological life is a battle eternally and always will be.
I don't care about your politics. I want to get this entire industry and country moving. It's been long enough. If you don't want to fly then take a leave of absence. If you are fearful then call out sick. I am willing to accept any and all risk like those of us who have been out there already flying the limited flights we have. Fear be damned! We must fly our customers and get back on the horse. We must go now before it is too late!

Sorry bud. Get comfortable.

Ignorance is not an excuse to advocate destructive public policy.
this is taken from a document in the link you provided. Read the second line. It states this is preliminary. Again not the final word. This is just one of the documents in the link you provided.
Ignorance of your own sources is not an excuse for spreading misinformation.
Now I bet your not intentionally being misleading but, be advised that the data is incomplete and therefore largely inconclusive.

It would be very easy to isolate the few children that are at risk from COVID-19. By the way, it has been established asthma is not a risk for COVID-19.
Children get hospitalized for influenza, asthma, appendicitis, choking, broken bones, bronchitis, epilepsy, etc. Creating a double standard and viewing COVID-19 differently than other illnesses (some that are much more deadly for children) is not rational thinking.
And of course this data is preliminary. It's an ongoing pandemic. You are looking for even the most irrelevant reason to disregard new information that conflicts with your irrational views. Again, you are scared of COVID-19, but your fear is not based on data or rationality. Living in fear isn't really living at all, is it?

'Until we have confidence in the answers to those questions we are blindly betting on others lives'
This is the crux of the argument. I may be thick but I don't see how me going out is betting on someone elses life. Surely that individual should take ultimate responsibility for their own safety. Yer I get that some are immuno comprimised.......
This argument I feel is akin to stopping people driving on the freeway because it threatens other peoples lives. Its just wacky logic.
I am open to being convinced otherwise.
Oh and this whole right to life stuff is baloney.....everyone should read Starship Troopers. None of us are special.

To address your driving on the freeway: yes there are risks however we have some very powerful mitigation tools. 1) drivers license, 2) rules of the road, 3) understanding of physics, 4) well engineered vehicles.
For this virus, we don’t have much. Masks and social distancing. Both are kinda weak imho, however it’s what we got.
As to the responsibility of spreading the virus: if you have it you can spread it. You can spread it to those who may not weather the storm. Letting people who knowingly have it contact others is immoral. That’s akin to an STD/STI infected person knowingly passing their illness to others. We would not tolerate that as a society, yet spreading a respiratory illness that can and does kill thousands, why would we think that’s ok?

I agree. This is a respectable reply. Freedom is choice. I have a choice, you have a choice, we all have a choice. Thank God for America.
No, I’m in command of nothing. Never implied otherwise. Free to choose, for everyone. Thats what I believe in. Best to all.

In New York City there have been at least 466,000 children infected with COVID-19 per the antibody study released last week. Out of those 466,000 children, there have been 0 deaths of healthy children and 5 deaths of children with pre-existing conditions (like cancer or congenital heart disease) have died.
It would be very easy to isolate the few children that are at risk from COVID-19. By the way, it has been established asthma is not a risk for COVID-19.

Ill make it easy for you. From the CDC:
however, disease characteristics among pediatric patients in the United States have not been described.
Yes it’s great that New York may not have children who died from covid with no underlying conditions, however as a nation, this hasn’t been fully vetted yet. So again, no it is unwise to assume children are just ok with this virus.
and again in your own links, they explicitly state that these are “preliminary and subject to change”. I’m not willing to bet children or others lives or even our own economy on “preliminary”.

I read a news story yesterday that 40,000 people went to the beach in LA a couple days ago. People are sick of this crap. It seems like everyone is scared because just like always the small minority is the most vocal.
