Where a PR is really valuable is when you don't have any remaining x days to put it over, it goes as a full PB in your bank.

If you still have xdays, it changes when you are usable by the company.

In practical terms that hasn't been very useful to me, they always found a way to use me.

But I used to do a lot of one day GS. Getting paid over guarantee plus two PB in the bank was awesome.

Don't you mean on call days and not x days? PB and PR days get put on your next available on call days unless you have none and then they go into the bank.

Partial reserve. Less than a full 24 hours. If it was 16 hours than you wouldn't start until 1600 on call reserve that day.

Other than when the Pr becomes a PB there's absolutely no change if you are rolling thunder. If you have no RES days left then it's immediate, if you have RES days remaining then the Pr becomes a PB when you get your next GS. Now, if you're in a category where you'll only get sporadic greens and can't execute a full month RT then I'd tend to agree with you.

Hey I got that good deal in December! Flew a 2-day reserve GS that blocked in around 1700. Add in the 9 hr post trip rest and that extended the trip footprint to a third day. The rest of the month was X days so I got three PB days in the PB day bank. Used them to drop a three-day in January and get paid for all of it.

This may never happen to me again but it was nice.

Feels good doesn't it? There are massive retirements and movement in the next 10 years, don't worry that's just the 1st of many for you. When I had my first 150 hour month I thought it wouldn't get any better, then 3 months later I had a month with 210 hour pay + 10 PB days in the bank for 22 days work (and I wasn't even close to the senior guys who REALLY worked the system, 360 hours pay anyone?) I don't claim to be smart enough to definitively say a new premium pay system will ruin greens but I suspect it will have a negative impact. Rolling Thunder, greens on top of OE trip buys, and GSWC are among of the best deals we have going at DAL, why would we ever mess with them?

I agree with you. As a junior commuter, even I love the GS system that we have.

Because all those things you mention are only super triple awesome "good deals" consistently and to the large colloquial extent implied for a very tiny fraction of the pilot group. The few junior upgrades that happen because of senior pilots camping in the right seat for those super awesome good deals aren't anywhere near enough to offset improved pay and QOL for the vast majority of the group.

I'm 100% in favor of working the system as able. I just think the perception that a sizeable majority support the very very few who can capitalize on the magic even at the expense of across the board improvements is highly overstated. That said, I'd wager that this contract won't significantly attempt to alter the deals of the few. Next time when the cycles of the industry swing the other way though, they will likely be gone with extreme prejudice.
