For me personally, time off is more important than pay so I use a few VACB days a year instead of IVD's.

Doesn’t IVD just move the vacation? How does it reduce vacation days?

You are basically borrowing a specific vacation days pay and putting it on a dropped trip, for every IVD day, so say last summer you did an IVD to drop a 3 day and used 3 days of IVD, from your FEB vacation. When you did your bid for FEB, instead of having the 3rd of Feb to the 9th of Feb off, it’ll have the 3rd thru 6th Feb on your line for vacation, assuming you told Icrew to use days 7, 8, and 9 from your vacation.

The nice thing is, since you lost 3 days of vacation pay, PBS doesn’t prevent you from getting a trip on the days whose pay you borrowed. Does that make sense?

One day before what could be a ‘yuuge’ AE, and not a single ‘Top Men’ prognostication????

Agreed, this thread has been a waste. The thread starter is a tool.

Well, looking at the latest M88 newsletter I’d be surprised if there were displacements....check last Maddog biscuit at end if interested.

I heard it's going to have a Texas A220 base... from a couple of Dallas commuters. They'd been drinking.

Must have been drinking in one of the three counties that aren’t dry.

Buy vacation days

This seems as good of a place to ask this question as any since it's been discussed recently:

How do you buy vacation days? I see on a page in iCrew under Bank that there's an option. Does the option appear after all vacation has been bid for the coming year? Because as of right now, I don't see the option for the primary vacation week we just completed bidding for. I do see an option to buy days for the vacation remaining from last year's bid. Not that it's very clear on that page. Is there a resource one can go to for further explanation? I searched under Crew Resources and didn't see any help guides that explained how to buy additional days.

Side note: The search feature on this forum did show some posts on this topic, but when you click on the hyperlink the post the page that comes up is not the one that was shown in the search. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, because that has been my experience in the past for a lot of searches.

Yes you buy them using the full service bank. It’s option 3 or something like that. You don’t have to attach them during the actual vacation bidding process. As long as you do it before the next vacation year starts (April 1) you can place them once you have your vacation awards from each round.

I like to wait until I see all my weeks and then just call or email crew planning to place the days. As you probably already know there are a couple restrictions in December & January, otherwise you can attach them wherever you want.

Type “vacation” in the Deltanet search bar and a pdf should come up with details, unless they’ve pulled it down from past years.

You can buy vacation for the next vacation year now. It’s option 3. They will pin the weeks to one of your awarded weeks (I’m not sure which one, but it doesn’t matter). You can call and have them move them to it the beginning / end The vacation period or a different period all together.

You can also add banked vacation days to a vacation bid (and / or add supp days) when you submit your bid. You can add days to the front and / or back end. Use the 12N lines on initial bid page (for SVAC right now)

Remember, right now buying extra days is automatic. However, once next years vacation year starts, you can only buy extra days the month prior and by approval of the company (which means it won’t be approved).

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I was unaware of the restrictions you mentioned for Dec & Jan, but I see them in the PWA now.

Looks like a forecast of new bases for 330/SLC, 350/LAX, 220/SEA and a new pilot base 320/BOS.

Come on. We ALWAYS put the cart before the horse here. And yes these are PROJECTIONS for new bases on the Jun AE. TBD on the reality.

fishforfun 01-17-2020 06:40 AM

Maybe if we agree to their $28 million they will bring in new airplanes and open new bases.

The Rover 01-17-2020 06:44 AM

Wow, no ATL 767-400 A/B positions?

Scooter432 01-17-2020 06:54 AM

Hmm tempted to bid ATL 717A hoping for the backfill, but the thought of being junior possibly reserve on that fleet during the upcoming summer gives me pause.

great bid options on the AE.

With all those B-777 positions in ATL, there will be.

I'd say ATL is doing just fine on this bid, and potentially future bids with the possibly 777 movement.

The point being that ATL 764B will about 25 B positions less than historical summer staffing numbers. All planes will be out of mods by early summer. That's a big difference in staffing, not that many here at Delta care about the loss of WB jobs.......

Great AE for sure. However, in the fine print, there are lots of IF statements wrt to NOT filling spot in certain bases if guys don't bid off the same seats in other bases. Decent amount of no backfills as well. Still, the WB spots should make for some good movement.

In Aug 2019 ATL765B had 195 people...the forecast staffing for AUG 2020 on this AE memo is 189. In my WB FO category, Aug 2019 we had 220...forecast for 2020 on this AE memo is 181. If I look back to April of 2019 we actually had 239, which gives us a total drop of 58. I'd say you're doing just fine. The 777s on this AE will cause some movement and if they decide not to open the NYC777, you'll be doing even better. Our WB jobs are staying close to the same, they're just going to other bases. I understand that ATL is the center of the world to some, but there are some other bases out there. :D

Lol, I forgot you could even look at an AE in iCrew. Check out DLnet - Crew Resources and Scheduling - AE.

SkiBum95 01-17-2020 07:34 AM

It’s on Deltanet in Flight Ops/Crew Resources

It depends on the base. Very underwhelming in MSP.

330 Nothing
7ER Shrinkage
73N Shrinkage
320 Nothing
717 Few tokens to offset the shrinkage

Denny Crane 01-17-2020 07:50 AM

Ok. That’s the CR letter announcing it. Technically the actual AE Bid will be posted at 12 noon today...........in about 10 minutes. :D
