There is no way this AE is for summer 2022 staffing. Either someone made a huge communication error or they did it on purpose to instill fear and doubt.
I was thinking the same thing....this whole post. Something doesnt add up. But what's new these days?

They do seem to be playing a shell game of “active pilots” vs “head count” vs “seniority list pilots” etc

One would hope it is unintentional given the fog and friction of Covid war these days, but who knows.

He stated it on a response to a Skyhub question. I then sent him a direct message to clarify and he confirmed it

And just to confirm, he specifically said “active”, not total or seniority list?

We currently have 13,230 active pilots. By the summer of 2022 we will retire 868 pilots (probably closer to 955.) This means we will be at 12,274 by that time. Just slightly more than his number with no furloughs.

What they do between October 1 and the summer of 2022 is really anyone's guys right now.

He didn’t specify in the answer on Skyhub. That is why I reached out to him. He confirmed “active” pilots.

Just did a count on the excel sheet for retirements on the CR page. Now thru the end of May 2022 there are 1346 mando ret’s. And there’s usually a significant number (25%?) above just the mando’s. Didn’t count how many of those are active though.

Many inactive pilots will be furloughed as well. Based on numbers, I think the company is going to get down to 9-10,000 active pilots ASAP. If that’s mgmt’s COA, that means 4-5K furloughs up front.

Not according to the AE.
