You used two different terms, payrate and pay. Yes, I do believe the CARES act says no payrate decreases until October 1. The payrate for all categories remains unchanged. There is nothing in the Act that promises the same pay if you end up changing positions for what ever reason. Every month your pay is probably a different amount but your payrate is the same while in category. The CARES act does not promise you can keep the same pay. At least that's my interpretation.

Yes it does.........and I'm guessing they would have by now except the CARES act specifically says not until Oct. 1.

At that point ~1800 pilots will have retired (mando and typical early #'s), so if there are any furloughs, to be ready for 2023 they'd have to start bringing them all back pretty quickly at that point. And I think 80% in 2022 is conservative.

edit: They'd not only have to bring back all furloughs but start hiring in 2022 to account for the ~750 additional retirements before they get to summer 2023 if they expect additional growth.
BS stated that the projection for summer 2022 is 11500-12000 active pilots. If you account for retirements and pilots on an inactive status, we would need every pilot currently on the seniority list. There is no way this AE is for summer 2022 staffing. Either someone made a huge communication error or they did it on purpose to instill fear and doubt.

But but why would they do that?. Ed said we need to trust each other. I thought we were in the circle of trust?

I agree. This AE would have us at only ~9300 active pilots in May 2022. They will have to start bringing UNAs back to real categories next May at the latest just to maintain ~10,100 active.
