I think you all need to ponder a little deeper what crew resources is doing.

When I look on flight radar it’s shows these planes are both ERJ-175-100LRs. I thought it was the ERJ-175-200ARS which were the 89k MTOW restricted ones? I’m legitimately asking this because I may be wrong. If there’s an easier way to track this let me know. I’m not familiar with the ERJ types. One plane flying around in violation of our scope is ~17 extra Deltas pilot out of a job.

I’m surprised DALPA is okay with this surplus bid and how it will be handled. It seems like an abrogation of seniority. So guys at the bottom of the list are essentially getting an SIL worth ALV at 717B pay, no? Maybe they get furloughed maybe not. I’m sure there are more than a few senior guys who would love be a UNA. In fact people have already been asking how they bid for that.

Take me for example. I’m right on that 2500 cusp that most people here think will constitute the UNA category. I just lost landing currency on the 7ER. So no workie for me until the bid closes. I’ll probably be assigned UNA. Maybe I convert in Jun/Jul, maybe later...still no workie. Eventually I’ll convert. And then eventually I’ll get furloughed...or maybe not. Either way, I’m not flying and still collecting a decent paycheck. Now tell me, don’t you think pilots senior to me would jump at this opportunity?! Again I ask, how is DALPA not all over this?

One more scenario. Take the last guy on the list who gets a seat when the music stops. What’s it going to be? NYC717B? So this guy is probably going to have a suck commute to NYC on a likely lower paying seat than they now hold. And the guy one number junior to him is sitting at home in his underwear making the same paycheck? Crazy town!

NYC717 is closing. Most junior pilot with flying status will be handed a MD to NYC220B.

I’m no expert, but UNA isn’t a position to be desired. It’s a placeholder until furlough Oct 1 because of the CARES Act. Perhaps things come back faster than planned and some of the senior UNAs stay, otherwise I think it’s indicative of a furlough. A senior pilot on UNA, would equate to a voluntary furlough IMO. In any case, it can’t be bid for on the bid.

This is a good point. However, if you could volunteer for UNA would it require you to be furloughed before the person that was assigned the least desired position in the system?

Definitely food for thought. Plus what’s worse commuting to NYC for months on end or the uncertainty of a furlough?

Its very simple. We have a contract. The company is following the contract.

You can’t volunteer for UNA. Also, I’m going to go with...they can’t furlough a UNA until everyone jr to that person is UNA.

They can’t furlough out of seniority.
