From: 7ER B...whatever that means.
Ok, I'll say it...Am I the only one that has a hard time believing that the company could miss the mark by THIS much? Add to it the number of "well placed" and "trusted source" leaks and it feels to me like more of the FUD churn to me. Toward what end, I do not know. That's the real question.

Soooo, they din't want to offer SIL's, they didn't want to mitigate cascading training events with an early retirement, and they wanted to close 18 categories, including the pinnacle of them all.
Talk about biting off more than they can chew... Almost makes me laugh, if it wasn't so serious.
IF this is all true, the only way they can make all this happen is to partially scale back what they are closing. Either the 777 stays, or 12-14 of the remaining closures don't happen.

The critical mistake on this displacement IMO was the closing of the 7ER bases in DTW, MSP, and SLC. That alone entailed about 650 pilots being displaced probably most of whom wanted to stay in base and not chase the airplane. Those 650 displacements probably had about a four fold multiplier effect resulting in at least 2500 training events right there.
Next question for the town hall teleconference: Who’s really running the show?

For sure! No way I would intentionally commute just to stay on a plane. For me, driving to work trumps any desire to fly a particular plane/type of flying. I'm not an intentional type collector, but a few weeks down in ATL is a small price to pay to be driving home shortly after I stroll off the plane on the go-home leg.
