What they don’t know is that pilots are better at their game, because they try to get us screwed daily. Time to ALPA get some pressure on them for a better early retirement and QOL gains. BTW, they told them every 777 guy displaced will be around 17 training events. Company decided to add a bunch of displacement, not our fault.

JL said in one of the town halls that in a perfect world a ER would come before the bid, but it was al driven to the fleet plan. They played the game and it seems that they might be losing the bet. Guys won’t move bases for the plane and money, they will leave at home even if it means less money.
We (pilots), are greedy in our own terms. I’m sure they though that with the amount of GS we were making, we can’t live with less money. I’m sure
most guys plan to live with 72hrs/month, everything else is extra gravy.
oh well, it’s all based on a rumor, but if is true, there’s no other way than retain pilots, less UNAs and furloughs. The jr guys are flying the NB and keeping the company a float, if they want to get senior pilots to do it, will cost more.

I'm not holding my breath for some accommodation for Tricare eligibility. I don't know how many are on property, but it's sizable enough that it should be a factor.

I still think Network shouldn't have as much control as they do. This is the kind of crap you get when "everyone waits on a fleet plan from network." Not to mention the fact that they'll likely change their mind 4 more times before the first person would start training on this POS.

IF you drive to work. Varies hugely by base. DTW is apx 65% commuter, MSP 16, ATL 35, NYC, 75. In DTW almost 90% 350 both seats commute, 330 75 both, 7ER ~72%A, 63B.
So avg ~75% of DTW 644 position losses or ~480 pilots might just commute to other bases to either stay on their acft or better seniority. I see ATL getting hit hard with the cascade and doing far more of the bid down to stay in base

I'm starting to think this was no surprise whatsoever. This could just be the shake-things-up bid, followed soon after by another AE (and the ERP) once the masses are locked in. We can't change it... but they can, and that's a tactical advantage. We've shown our hand, some of us have bought a seat lock, and now they can let the software churn on the best corrective measures. Clearly no one has converted, but they recently exercised what post-conversion cancellation looks like, and it was no big deal on their end. You'll recall from BS's AE announcement itself:
"As we planned for this displacement bid, we worked very closely with our cross-divisional partners to coordinate a flexible plan. The bid plan incorporates the flexibility to adjust initially to the evolving landscape (e.g., potential early out programs, increased early retirements, or a change in the economic environment following the bid award). The contract provides flexibility through displacement cancellation, or the ability to post another bid in the near future."

The accommodation is they give you $$ for medical to gap you to Medicare and you don’t need to use it for that because you have Tricare. I recall up to $150K for non-cons

Question: What's the penalty to the company on day 366 when they haven't converted you? Seems like they have zero chance of success based on the # of training events being rumored. If you are MD'd do you stay on your original equipment or higher paying awaiting training? Trying to understand what is prohibitive to just opening the training depart to full and reissuing AEs to fine tune. Having guys sitting at home awaiting training (at reserve guarantee?) for a few months is nothing when you consider the current staffing. TIA
