Think of this also, 7200 pilots and I imagine the vast majority will be on mandatory displacement with no seat lock and/or reinstatement rights for 6 months. I'm thinking the powers that be may REALLY want to rethink this. If an average type rating (someone once told me this) is around $50k...if all 7200 pilots needed a new type that's $360,000,000 ! And with no seat locks...well...

Just curious at how 88/90 pilots were looking at the bid...
I’m 88A. I bid left then right seats to stay in ATL. Then as backup NY in the left seat.

It's a lot and I'm sure they are trying to minimize training as much as possible.

But 360 million is really less than two weeks of cash burn right now

It’s a drop in the bucket. 14 billion in cash by the end of the year. DL isn’t flinching when pilots go “rabble rabble rabble .. omg gonna cost 360 million”

For a mere $40,000 cash in small bills, I'll change my bid to stay in my current category for the MOADR (rebid). For $100k, I'll change it to my current aircraft in another base so they can avoid one or more secondary displacements.

delta would rather lose 100 million dollars than give you an extra 10 bucks

You really got think BS figured this would be the case the whole time, but is getting the cram down from up above.

Silly to not imagine guys would rather retrain to stay in base vs. chasing their fleet across the country at various bases. I honestly find the whole thing comical if not tragic at the same time. I'm starting to wonder about the leadership of our company. World's best...

Makes sense. I have met some senior 88 As who loved the airplane and the route profiles - not interested in transcon flying. Obviously everyone has their own preference. Just assume that someone who enjoys that type of airplane might want to stick to the smaller MD or Boeing vs bidding something a bit different like the Airbus.
