On second thought that’s probably too pessimistic and Machiavellian. Probably some NYC73NB and NYC320B but they could lateral out without a lock. Somebody must be displaced for a 365 AE. My thought was that only a single category would cause everyone to bid a different aircraft to get out of NYC220B thereby locking them.

My thoughts exactly! Why do something that makes logical sense first? This is what got us into this staffing mess in the first place.

I hope everyone keeps a long memory. Soon enough we will be back in section 6 talks. The company will want training relief amongst other issues. Time to pay up. Retro as well.

I got hired 2020 so I wasn't here. But I think if flying is back in 23 close to 19 levels, we will accomplish that with a lot of new hires but also a lot of green slips. Also feels like going into this short staffed only helped us prevent furloughs, on top of a successful VEOP.
If I remember correctly we were staffed at about 90-95% for summer 2019 which is the top end of their summer 21 estimate. Going go be interesting to watch for sure.

I also remember a certain exec saying they wouldn't run us that hot again.

International flights are still abysmal. Is this “all hands on deck” more of a move to avoid training all the displacements and then reversing with the recovery ?

Depends. Talked to a waiter in LAX a year or so ago and he said they all get the mandated 15 plus all tips. Same for van drivers in some markets as well, plus most if not all airline contracts include tips paid by the company to the drivers included automatically.

All I ask is we stop tipping for the asinine maneuver where they randomly unload the bags then stand behind the pile while we literally trip over ourselves throwing them money as they stand almost out of reach and smile as it happens.

And as always, whatever van driver guilt trip you have, the people who clean the rooms deserve twice as much.

Surely if you wait to train until the flights are loaded we will be behind the curve and not catch up for years, especially with a decent amount of retirements every year.

How will that pay work out? You do know there’s quite a difference in pay between the two. You think the big D will just bring the 757 rates up to the 767-400? No. It’s not going to happen. UAL also effed that up with the FAA anyways. Wouldn’t be allowed even if we wanted to...
