AUS is also going to double their number of gates and add a terminal in the next 3-6 years. Somebody is going to fill that void with a base. All of the other majors already have a significant presence in Texas. For Delta it’s a big gaping hole in the network. Give it 5 years,

I'm living in SLC but talking about where we want to raise a family. Dallas is our front runner, I just don't want to commute forever but if I have to I will. If we went to AUS, I'd love that. How is DFW-ATL commute though, if I wanted widebody flying certainly won't be AUS base I assume...

pre-covid DFW-ATL was pretty competitive. DFW was an old DL base lots of lingering FAs who commute with 30 year seniority, but at least its all mainline, also have options on American/Spirit and SWA out of Dallas Love.

dfw-Atl is one of the rougher commutes in the system. During non covid times. It may be improving with the veop, etc. still a lot of stragglers from the base closing years ago.

Good friend of mine lives in DFW. He’s commuted to NYC, DTW, and LAX rather than deal with ATL. Pre 9/11 seniority...

Ironic. When I went to the 220 from the beginning i had SO many comments. Most of them were oh its just a big rj, ill never fly that, it's too many leg not enough pay. And here we sit with everyone talking about it bidding it including so many that were against it.

Not really the impression that I get from this thread, but, if people are bidding it now it’s probably just because they want to fly with you! (Because YOU are very cool! And only YOU had the vision to fly it before anyone else!)

AUS is already filled to overflowing. It's absolutely nuts. Pre-COVID, you'd do a 0500 show thinking you'll grab a bite on the way to the gate, but every food place has 30 people in line and the whole terminal is already standing room only, and the only thing you could get is coffee at the self-serve coffee stand.

Every gate is filled, and every spot surrounding the terminal has \ an airplane parked on it (stay on that taxiway centerline!).

And this was after the terminal extension opened.

Finally getting off the jet after being displaced to it last year. It is a big CRJ and I was extremely disappointed by it, clean sheet and too many issues persist from crj200. Overall a fine plane and not terrible, but disappointing.

I think everyone in ATL dreams of a junior mad dog replacement, that they can be senior in. So far I don’t think the 220 is going to be it. Marketing like it for certain markets because the cabin is fantastic. It’s not going to do the Villes of the SE. I think the 73/320 will just be pressed into more of that flying as the 717 goes away.
