Halfway through CanaBus training...heading to MCO tomorrow to spend two weeks in JetBlu's sims....coming off the 717. They jet is great, so far. The similarity in the logic of the box and approaches with the 717 are a fairly easy transition (think FPA and RNAV stuff). The jet is only a few steps away from not needing us up front. I am a DFW commuter and look forward to trying to swing a few more nights at home since the jet lays over at DFW a good bit. Was always frustrating to me to get the Love Field layovers and having to dry from Fort Worth to Love for an early departure. Looking forward to Mother D pulling their head out and opening something in the Great Republic of Texas at some point...I have faith that it will happen at some point. Anyways, I totally agree with the sentiment that the instructors and course have been far superior to anything that I have experienced in my 20 years wearing the widget. They have the "Big Picture" and the program has been very enjoyable so far. Mostly younger instructors with lots of positive energy and enthusiasm. So...there...for what's it worth...

An AUS base would certainly be drivable for just about everyone in DFW/IAH/SAT (not that that factors into company decision making), just like an MCO base would cover most of the S. Florida/JAX/TPA commuters.
MCO & AUS would make 1000+ pilots very happy, although many will still prefer to commute to ATL/NYC/DTW for the heavy metal.
BOS seems harder to know. A slow pandemic recovery + jetBlue European competition w the A321XLR certainly complicates things.

It's a great jet, but...
