I think almost 80% of the positions left after the April AE are 7ER spots. They're most heavily concentrated in NYC, but there are also a healthy amount in ATL, LAX, and SEA. That's all that they can give out until this next AE opens up some new spots.

Think they mentioned a July AE, so at most 1 or 2 classes before they have a new slate to fill spots from. Can’t hire fully if you’re limited to 60% ER

What will happen to those ER spots? They will have to be filled at some point right?

They'll likely offer them again on the July AE, but I doubt they'll fill much more of them given how many people are now seatlocked. I think if anything, it'll just open some spots on other fleets to reduce the strain on the 7ER training pipeline. They still need those seats filled, it'll just allow them to spread out the spots as hiring ramps up. NYC in particular is hilariously understaffed. There's something like ~200 open spots on the 7ER there. The other 3 bases are all imbalanced for now with more Captains than FOs, so they'll need those spots filled too.

they will either appear in this next AE or the company won’t fill them. The company needs variety in its new hire aircraft to get more people through training. If they open up all those ER slots and hundreds others across the 73N, 320, 220, and 717 in another AE they can get more people through.

Thanks for responses. First time at an airline with a complex fleet structure.
