New Hire Class Drops
#2261
Part of the reason LAX doesn’t show in the drop often is due to the size. Openings in NYC can be in the 100s of seats vs about 10-20 openings in smaller bases like LAX. So staffing the NYC seats becomes the priority.

Start indoc next month, and my immediate goal is to get to SLC as soon as possible, aircraft type is secondary. The only info I've seen myself is results of the last AE, which shows SLC awards as -12 for 73, -1 for 220 and +13 for 320. Should I take that to literally mean 73 is my best shot to get to SLC on the next AE, or is it more nuanced than that? Clearly I will rank any SLC awards in the drop at the top (if any exist), so this question is posed under the assumption I will not have an SLC option straight out the gate from indoc. I also assume I will have to rank my preferences before the Aug AE info becomes available (if that even happens, rumor at this point?) SEA is my 2nd choice if there's any input specifically regarding that option. Thanks for any insight you guys have.

I am also a SeaTac hopeful, starting Indoc in a couple of weeks... I have skimmed this forum thread and a few others, but have failed miserably in finding any list detailing what aircraft are at each of the bases. Like someone commented above, I'd fly anything from a Cessna 172 to the space shuttle in Seattle... but if not I at least hope to get in a plane that will be an easier transition. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers.

On the 220, it’ll be a bit longer. They are better staffed which means you can actually drop trips/reserve days. Friend of mine is a new hire on 220 in NY and is able to hold reserve with no weekends within a month or two of starting.
