LAX is a small base, also impacted by the massive renovation that will be concluded over the next few months. Rumor among the base is potential for noticeable growth in the 320/737 and maintaining the size of the 7ER/350. With 330 an eventuality. If you want LAX you will most likely achieve it on the first AE you see assuming you are on 320/73/7ER.

Part of the reason LAX doesn’t show in the drop often is due to the size. Openings in NYC can be in the 100s of seats vs about 10-20 openings in smaller bases like LAX. So staffing the NYC seats becomes the priority.

Start indoc next month, and my immediate goal is to get to SLC as soon as possible, aircraft type is secondary. The only info I've seen myself is results of the last AE, which shows SLC awards as -12 for 73, -1 for 220 and +13 for 320. Should I take that to literally mean 73 is my best shot to get to SLC on the next AE, or is it more nuanced than that? Clearly I will rank any SLC awards in the drop at the top (if any exist), so this question is posed under the assumption I will not have an SLC option straight out the gate from indoc. I also assume I will have to rank my preferences before the Aug AE info becomes available (if that even happens, rumor at this point?) SEA is my 2nd choice if there's any input specifically regarding that option. Thanks for any insight you guys have.

There had been new hire positions previously for 220 in SLC. I would expect 220 and 737 would be fastest but a320 could be quite close. Every AE is different so you can't really project, but you should be able to get SLC relatively quickly. Worst case in a year you can take any position you can hold on next AE to get there if your aircraft doesn't allow you to hold SLC.

I am also a SeaTac hopeful, starting Indoc in a couple of weeks... I have skimmed this forum thread and a few others, but have failed miserably in finding any list detailing what aircraft are at each of the bases. Like someone commented above, I'd fly anything from a Cessna 172 to the space shuttle in Seattle... but if not I at least hope to get in a plane that will be an easier transition. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers.

They should look happy. 737 Captain award is only 6 months away!

Hi all,
How long does it take to hold a line in NYC if you are a320 / a220?
Also how long is the upgrade on those two equipments?
Thanks!

As long as we keep up this hiring pace, you should get a line within a few months of finishing OE, maybe sooner

jr A320 CA in NY was hired 1/2020
A220 10/2021

In NYC on 320, you’ll probably have a line your first month after OE. Reserve is going senior because people are rolling thunder and crediting 160hrs with the epic amount of open time and green slip flying. Worst case, maybe 3 months of reserve as people bid out of NY and you advance quickly.

On the 220, it’ll be a bit longer. They are better staffed which means you can actually drop trips/reserve days. Friend of mine is a new hire on 220 in NY and is able to hold reserve with no weekends within a month or two of starting.
