There is also the chance of not being able to hold reserve in the winter time. I was near the plug on the 330 for a couple years and would routinely get assigned a leftover line because the limit of reserve lines were reached.

I was the plug on NY 765 pre-Covid, have posted about it multiple times (if the APC search function was worth a crap). At the time, we had 2-day non-commutable domestic transcons which my first winter was seasonal, but after the second they never left (probably more to do with a now-completed cabin mod). I expect the category will (has?) return to the historical norm of 100% international.

Because every international trip is fully commutable, commuting to reserve will be very easy for you. You will have 4-day reserve stretches minimum. With mostly 3-day trips, expect to get a SC starting at about 1700 on day 1, then a trip on day 2-4. If you bid/have a 6 day block, you will be vulnerable to the 6-day “W pattern” trips.

BL. VERY feasible, and outstanding QOL. BUT…. Beware if the 2-day non-commutable trips ever come back. That’s what started driving that category so junior back in 2018 like rats off a sinking ship.

oh, and I would net expect to be on reserve for years.c if history is once again a guide. See what Maddoggin said.

I'm struggling with 765 vs 7ER as a local. I want those two days to come back, because the biggest deterrent to me on the 765 is that its current route structure seems so boring. The variety of the 7ER is so much more appealing, with additional benefit of quicker seniority.
Anyway, just thinking out loud.

I bid to the ER from the bus after 4 years. Best flying in the system bar none. 40% I can hold all europe 3 days. but if I get bored I can do 2 day west coast/MEX/BOG, I can do the florida shuttle thing if I want a bunch of landings. Maybe do one of the 6 day double Europe’s that bounces through MSP/BOS. Swap for a a goofy NHL/MLB/NBA charter whenever I want.

I find myself yelling from the rooftop how your only goal out of indoc (if you want to be based in NYC anyways) should be to get on the ER. Only slightly worse seniority and you’re really insulated from the 320/737 rat race.

Thanks all for all the great info!

start class very soon, am really high SS so I’ll have a descent shot at my first choice.

I live in Florida and moving is not a possibility yet.

Can someone give me some advice on what I should do? bid ATL or NYC…. Would the longer commute to NY provide a better quality of life than reserve at Atlanta for a longggg time?

Thank you so much!

Florida to NYC has fewer commuters than ATL, and you have options on more airlines besides DL, along with much much better seniority. I’d suggest NYC>ATL personally.

Wondering if all 5 Tuesdays of August be used for BI or is is true that DAL only have 4 classes per month at 60 per class?

Heard the latest to be given 8/16 was 5/12 CJO! Any news yet from the 5/13 and 5/17 CJOs so far? Can't wait to start!

5/17 CJO, no news yet. Do they send out the class dates on a particular day of the week, or is it continuous?

Heard it’s every Monday and Friday! Could be wrong. Hope they start making BI to 70 per class 😬

Does the 765 go to Europe?
