Zero chance. They need every fleet possible to run new hires through sims/OE. That’s not to say that one random class drop every now and then won’t have it, but just wholesale disappearing for long stretches of time, no.

The fleets hurting the most are the 737 and 320. Since hiring resumed there hasn’t been a class these were not offered in at least one base. I doubt that will change any time soon.

Edit: that one or the other, and most of the time both.

No chance they will stop or go away, but its possible that a class here or there may not have any 320 positions.

It just depends on the number of prior AE openings, sim/instructor/OE availability, etc. While we will need new pilots for that fleet for a very long time, its possible a class every once in a while doesn't have that one plane that one time.

And even when a class does offer it as a "new hire choice" there will usually be several other aircraft choices in that class. So a given New Hire may not be able to get the 320 in class anyway depending on their seniority in class.

I assume you're asking because you hope to get the 320 as your initial aircraft. Without knowing any other factor, I'd say that if that's what you want your odds are probably fairly good. But obviously take the first class you can get into and don't delay hoping for a (slightly) cooler flight deck.

It might go away for a class now and then but even that is doubtful. It’s the growth fleet at Delta.

Out of NYC, is the 73 still considered to have the “better flying” in the system between the two? Understand that’s subjective.

By and large yes. 737 you’ll hit Caribbean/central America and more transcons. This could all change as more 321neos come online.

737 runs more junior. Their flying looks nicer...for now anyway. 320 trips out of LAX are a little sad right now until hopefully, the NEOs and maybe the SEA base mixes it up a bit.
