Coming from ACMI world so I’m used to 17 day trips. Is it possible to arrange my reserve days in big chunks like week on then 5 days off? Gonna be commuting from Charlotte so what do you guys think is best for QOL if I don’t mind long stretches of reserve?

You can put all your reserve days in a row if you wish (and your seniority allows).

same background as you and I do 18 RSV days in a row with 12 off. It’s not bad. I generally get home 2-3 times during that 18 days plus you have at least 2, 30/168 during the 18 days bringing 18 RSV down to 15.5 RSV

How often do those 30 hour rest periods end up back in base?

Right off the bat you will not be able to. In almost every category a certain number of junior reserves have forced coverage awards that your schedule will be built around. Generally this will be every or almost every Sat/Sun, and every major holiday, so you’ll have lots of 3-4 day RES stretches each weekend. Once you can get enough seniority to get above the coverage award cut line you can pretty much stack all your days anywhere you want them. Just note that coverage awards on major holidays can jump and bite even the most senior reserve bidder.
