edit: last time this happened in 2015 summer and it screwed a lot of new hires from “class in 1 month” to class actually in “9 months”. Different situation, but still seems to indicate company awaiting signing of MEMRAT

something tells me co is waiting to see our vote. What’s in that TA that doesn’t require ~2400 pilots in 2023? That’s the question. Previous publish by ops was ~200/mth through around may (summer hiring), then drop to ~100/month rest of year. That’s around the 1700 number, but no one has put out a jobs required list since then. Something tells me the company is hoping we sign the TA and drop hiring requirement but time will tell. Reading the TA over next week to try and decipher why this is not public yet. Union says TA adds 700 jobs but that was just bullet points on pre-TA hopes and dreams…

NEWB questions…
what is a plug?
Also, in general if one is a Florida commuter, is it better from a commuting point of view to bid WB as a new hire assuming having specific days (ie weekends and holidays) is not important. I was looking at the trips and it looks like most of the WB trips a very commutable on both ends.
Also, for those Newer Hires flying WB do you see many opportunities to pick up GS and maximize credit compared to your NB counterparts?

fair…but it’s a prognostication thread just like any other. Noted. Just tossing out some reality. It can change on a whim and I’m merely saying c15 affected many new hires, so there’s that. Likely it passes anyways so no bother I guess but it’ll be fine interesting to see how hiring number are actually changed with pass/fail.

WB will be significantly more commutable than any NB. As you alluded to you will be very junior on the WB so working most/every weekend and holiday. Although if you end up with a line you'll generally be able to get at least one weekend off a month, if not more just depending on how the trips work out on your schedule.
Current WB pilots would have a better gauge of how GS opportunities are.

WB is more commutable than NB in general. Right now people in their first year are moving up the seniority list fast on the 765 in NYC. That will most likely slow at some point. GS generally are most available in categories that are most understaffed. Probably NYC anything will be fine for GS.
