Grammar, it's a terrible thing. But I guess it was a Freudian slip?

Yes, the MAX 8 Can do all our SAQs and it carries more than the 319 too
Was that an after thought because of the -10 issue or was that the plan for SAQ replacement airplanes? I haven’t heard anything about MAX8s on the line side from fleet, but I don’t read everything.

A little of both.

If you get a Line Check in the next few months ask your LCA about it.

We had project pilots out evaluating the MAX 8 specifically for our SAQ airports. Boeing is gonna give us a break due to the MAX 10 debacle. Max 8 is flying now so no need to wait. The 75s are aging faster than we anticipated unfortunately.

no argument about the MAX being better with the SAQ. The LEAPs have their own issues but the EGT issues being minimized on the 319 will drastically extend the engine life. Something I’d imagine we’d try to do until we find a proper replacement. But I’m sure the 319 will eventually take over the 717 flying anyways.

MAX 8 will do the lions share of SAQ flying for us as the 75 and the 319 are retired. Which most all of the aforementioned will be out by ~2035 ish. The 319 probably earlier. The 75 carries more as does the MAX 8. It's simple economics
you do realize 2035 is 10 years away, right?

The 319’s are barely 20 years old. Even without the upgrades of CPDLC, Wx Radar, Screens, FMS, etc, they will be around for the foreseeable future.

The 75, OTOH…. Its days are much more numbered.

If the "we are getting MAX 8" rumors are from an LCP, I am even less likely to believe it.

319/320 screen upgrades? Have any actually occurred outside of a test bench?

I'm still waiting for the 75/76 efis upgrades that 'are coming soon. we have the money and will be starting any day'. That was around the time I was hired last century.

I wouldn't hold your (our) breath.

Good because I'm about ready to start refusing them. I can't find the memo that said how to write up screens that were too dim, but I've had a couple lately where I COULD NOT see the EWD on takeoff, another where I couldn't see the radar. I have flown 320s at another carrier, too, and we had no issue with screen dimness on 319s or 320s. Even the new airplanes I will bet $100 that the screens are deliberately dimmed for longevity; I've been in brand new 321s that the freaking screens are dim to the point of annoyance.
