New Hire Class Drops
#5731
Last week, I flew with a First Officer who had recently completed his training (Endeavor Flow). He mentioned that some Endeavor pilots were going to receive their numbers in October for classes starting in January. This conversation took place in September, so I'm unsure how they could have known they were receiving these numbers in October unless they were officially notified.
I don't know anyone at this point who doesn't think we have classes in Jan. The signs are all over the place. Most recently in the Oct 320 fleet newsletter...

If we don’t hire until January, wouldn’t the flows start getting their number in January and then held back since they can’t flow if Delta isn’t hiring? I believe this is the reason we had pure flow classes after OTS hiring stopped.

Said another way, the 9E flows seniority date can be up to 90 days prior to their class date.

In other words, their class date can be 90 days after their seniority date, but their seniority date has to be in a month that delta hires off the street pilots. Maybe we are just saying the same thing a different way. But I believe OscarRomeo is correct.

Not quite I don’t think. 9E flows have to make up the first 20 pilots (or half the months hiring if less) of each month delta hires. If delta hires January-March, there have to be 20 9E flows on the seniority list each month January-March, senior to all other new hires those months. If Endeavor wishes, they can hold them back up to 90 days, pushing their classes to April-June.

Otherwise, how did we have classes as late as May, but the last seniority number is in March ‘25?
I don’t know, just deducing. It’s the only way I can figure that could have happened?? 🤷♂️
Would seem to jive also with what Shegotthe… posted above. We might be able to know for sure next month when the SL is updated, but definitely in Jan.

Well. I guess I don’t have an authoritative answer, but it seems plausible they could “hire” only 20 9E flows in Oct, hold them back 90 days, and have them go through Indoc with OTS hires in Jan.

correct, they could. But if they hire OTS January-March, the top 20 pilots each month, by seniority date, need to be endeavor flows. They can flow extra in November-December for training January-March without hiring OTS if they want, but they must flow by seniority date in months they hire. My understanding of the LOA at least.
