.
If your base/aircraft is awarded an additional supp day (or two) in the annual sick leave use contest, you also get one (or two) additional IVD occurrences in the year. IIRC, there’s no obvious way icrew displays this potential to you so you just have to track it yourself.

This isn’t quite true. Your category will get supplemental vacation days added onto a week of vacation. You can then use those days to be converted into IVDs without affecting your base week of vacation, but no matter what you can still only use IVDs twice a year with up to 4 combined total days of usage.

actually it is true. Go read 14K.4
In 2021 I used 4 seperate IVDs. It’s a little known provision and as always Delta IT can’t cope so it took a couple of phone calls when the two extra were first denied.

Good to know. Unfortunately it looks like very few categories are going to get many extra days this year.

Also, because of the limitations of iCrew, you actually have a three month window where the supplemental days can be used as payback days.

And to clarify what I understand…a PD with no coverage is “qualified” as is a “just put through” on the swap board? So, essentially the same thing?
I think you are conflating two different ways to drop a trip.

If you put a trip on the swap board only, I don't believe it shows in open time at all.

If you list a trip in PD in PCS and there is insufficient coverage, it shows in open time as "qualified" and does not go through unless someone WS's for your trip. This trip does not appear on the swap board unless you. post there as well.

If a trip is on the swap board, any pilot can pick it up at any time as long as there is not a FAR conflict. Their credit limit for the month does not come into play.

There is no credit limit applied to "swap with the pot" transactions in PCS either, but these are only processed during PCS runs.

A "qualified open time" trip can only be picked up as a WS, not as a swap with pot. All WS's are subject to the max credit pickup rule.

As someone else pointed out, the "just put through" option on the swap board just lets the picking up pilot know that they are free to take it, no contact needed and mostly contact is only requested when someone is requesting a specific trip for trade, not for a drop.

In summary, if you want the most chance of dropping a trip, list it as a PD so that people can see it in qualified open time, but also list it on the swap board so that pilots that would take it but are too close to pickup limit can grab it on the swap board.

This is a very unknown provision indeed!

Also, depending on how close the 3rd day is on coverage, sometimes you can get lucky and during the PCS run the day can become covered and the drop would go through so it's still worth inputing the drop if your desire is to be rid of the trip.

Always make sure you list the trip on the Icrew swap board which can enable someone else to snag it above their credit cap if that is what they want to do. The Icrew swap board starts immediately so often people can modify their skeds even before the 20th.

Lastly, if you want, twice a year you can place "individual vacation days" (IVD) on 1-4 days of the trip, but you only can do this routine twice a year for a total of up to 4 days so chose wisely. Whatever day you place your IVD on cannot be flown on going forward, including GS's. Those dates get paid as vacation (that you pick from a future vacation) and the whole trip is dropped.

Also, once a year you can drop an "authorized personal drop" (APD) on 1 to whatever the length of trip #days, but again, whatever days of a trip you designate as APD cannot be flown on going forward, including GS's. There is no pay/credit associated with an APD.

Lastly dropping a trip with a banked PB day is next level technique and there is a whole DALPA notebook message on the DALPA website laying out all the rules permutations.
do new hires get IVD as well or do e have to wait for our 1 year anniversary? Also, thanks for a very informative description of how I can rid of the trip

If you have a vacation day to use, yes.

Super new, looking to finish IOE sometime in February. What are the chances of getting one long weekend off in March? Just wondering if I'd be able to make a family event.
