I know I took the wind out of your sails with the preemptive ‘what are you willing to give up for that’ disclaimer but you’re arguing semantics.
We have an ADG with min day protections built in. We don’t have crew meals. I know which one I would choose during bankruptcy.
No, there are not. You are conflating “ADG” with “minimum day”. They are not the same.

Further, the ADG didn't show up until 2014.

this. there are no 'min day protections' baked in anywhere.

Been there, done that. Just completely unnecessary and avoidable.

if the company thinks it’s worth avoiding then they will start giving us meals. Til that happens I’m gonna get food when I need food.

agree it is avoidable, but the company does not seem eager to avoid it. if they would rather delay a flight than cater 2 meals then that’s what it is.

Exactly. To add to that, IF we had Min Day, that same 4-day with a 28 hour layover would pay no less than 26:15. Which I also suspect would also cause “Carmen”/the optomizer to eliminate a lot of extra long layovers (eg: 30 hour domestic, or 48+ international). So buyer beware, there is a downside to advocating for it.

Sailing knows the facts. He just tends to be a contrarian and posts against the majority, usually presenting a company-centric POV. That is fine and we need guys like that. He usually has very good information to add to the discussion. UAL blows us away is some aspects of their PWA and we blow them away in other areas. No airline is best at everything. We at DAL are pretty close to the top overall with a few notable exceptions:

Vacation as you pointed out is terrible and industry lagging.
Our 12 month put your life on hold AE system is probably the worst in the system.
5 1/2 hours block minimum for a crew meal is absurd and can routinely result in 7 + hours without food.
Our DH policy pretty much sucks.
Plenty of others.

Then again we beat UAL in some areas. Don't have time to list them but you guys know where we rock.

Merry Christmas All!

I’m ok being wrong on this, but a 4 day trip that blocked 6 hours you would still get 21 hours pay for it, right? Effectively you have a 5:15 min day in this scenario, regardless of what we choose to call it. I’m fully aware the ADG system takes time from a high block day and pays it to a low block day to average it out over the trip (and I don’t like it either) but to say we have no minimum day is disingenuous. At the end of the trip we will not be paid less than 5:15/day, minimum, regardless of where it comes from - other days on the trip where we blocked more than 5:15, or credit for amount under 5:15.

If this is not how it works someone please explain it to me, or if someone can demonstrate how a trip can pay less than 5:15/day average I’m happy to learn.

minimum day has a meaning and what is in our contract does not meet that definition. If it did and our MDG was 5 hours, If I flew 7-5-0-6 hours on a 4 day it would pay 23 hours. Now it pays 21.

min day means the MINIMUM you will get paid for each day, not the average of all the days. Some airlines have a minimum day, we do not
