CPI at 8.6% YoY, with headline inflation 1.0% MoM. This contract is going to need a big number just to maintain 2019 buying power; and an even larger number to reflect the pilot shortage.

Sure, and the number will have to move over time, and account for the recession that will be necessary to put a brake on inflation.

is 25% right off the bat unreasonable? Then maybe 10,10 or something. If United’s leaked numbers are true it’s an absolute embarrassment.

I’m not sure if management is going to entertain the kind of pay raises people are clamoring for.

Which then goes to the next point:
Do we take a page from United’s playbook (allegedly) and try and hit the Grand Slam in soft pay/QOL/vacation and such?

Im not advocating, and im in the retro camp, but it’s an honest question.

I don't see pilots entertaining a pay cut in real dollars. I would argue that the company has been getting pilot labor at a discount since January 1, 2020 and that discount is increasing by at least 8.6% YoY -- probably more considering what CPI excludes.

We are saving money across the board on labor costs. What he saved offloading VEOPs, he is more than making up for now. We should get a healthy raise, QOL improvements, and retirement increases. Pay scales/per diem tied to inflation. That would make sense.

I hope we can do this, but it seems like, at least from the people I have flown with, I think a lot here are pay rates first voters.

I could be wrong, but many here were slamming the UAL deal rumors based solely on rumors of pay rates alone without considering soft money items the rumors may bring.

I think if UAs AIP makes it to a TA and becomes public, that will give us an indication of where we can be headed. If the original rumors are true, hopefully we can gain in the weak areas of our contract.

How much of a pay cut do you think this group will tolerate? I say none at all. CPI is pretty easy math to know what slashing our compensation looks like and I don’t see that passing ratification. Too many newbies rolling in to offset those who might be willing to take less than inflation as their fade-away jumper into retirement.
