The logic on these is nutty. We've filed a lawsuit and don't agree with the law so we're just going to ignore it.
I wonder way they gotta an idea like ignoring the law?

I bid a combination of trips to get me into the Line construction window and then bid avoid trips > 1.0 credit. The way I understand it is that if my line is not complete when it gets to CSSN it will jump to the next bid group. Any gotchas with this strategy? Over the years I have made pretty much every mistake you can make when employing a new tactic and CSSN is new to me.

Thanks Scoop

As others have said, CSSN works for your scenario. Where I'll use avoid if credit > 0 is if I'm not quite sure my earlier bid will get me just into the LCW. I usually snipe the bottom of the LCW, so I'll add my normal awards that I hope will get me there, then start adding in bids followed by avoid if credit >0. Example for a month where ALV is 72, so the bottom of the LCW is 62.

Award 3 days that depart on Mon/Tues/Wed limit 4
avoid if credit > 0
Award 1 day limit 1
avoid if credit > 0
etc...

If I just want 4 x 3-days or I want to try another option, I'd just use a CSSN.

Award 3 days that depart on Mon/Tues/Wed limit 4
CSSN

Using avoid credit > 0, you're just trying to use denial mode in your favor. CSSN avoids denial mode all together.

Got it - with CSSN you don't really need the avoid trips> zero. The only reason that I have used Avoid Credit > Zero in the past is once I am in the LCW I Don't want another crap trip thrown in. Probably not as much a factor on the WB - just a holdover from my NB days. As far as I know requesting min credit can be Administratively denied but avoid credit >zero will be honored unless you are in the coverage zone.

Coverage is a separate process, so while it may deny some of your prefs, avoid if credit > 0 can still work to stay low in the LCW. I stopped using min credit a long time ago as you're right, it can just be denied. It may work, I just don't rely on it. Sniping the bottom of the LCW is a much easier process with CSSN or avoid if credit (or even prefer off the rest of the day). Lots of ways to get the same result. Best of luck!

Break break...

Curious, why we are requesting VFR clearances now. In the midst of radio and radar outages and recent loss of separation events, this doesn't seem to pass the common sense test.

Not monday-morning quarterbacking but looking for discussion...

Didn’t you read the part in the AIM where if radar goes out, you’re automatically VFR?

Oh, wait…

I'd call the duty pilot and be put on rest, go to the hotel.
No way I'd fly out of EWR squawking 1200...NFW.

I have done it in a previous life in a cheyenne and in a navajo out of LGA but that was riskier me.
