Right. I just don't understand any statement that would suggest that we should be in favor of restoring the "worse for pilots" aspect. Other than for preventing seniority abrogation, but even then the pilot group as a whole must benefit.

Who, exactly, is flying "high time"?
What is "high time" anyway? (20 hours a month? 50? 80+?)
My 12 month lookback is about 800 block hours. Significantly more than most. (Narrow body, domestic, top 30% of category)
The PAS (Pilot Activity Statement) is fascinating.
What, exactly, is the "norm"?
(Someone has to actually fly airplanes. Planes don't fly themselves. Yet.)

The last couple years NYC ER A has been like a little lazy boy oasis in the midst of the IA/batch size/23.m chaos in all the other categories.

@Extenda did you get forced into a line for August? I only needed the weekends of the 16th and 23rd off (motocross races as usual) and coverage awards for those two weekends started like 4 pages before us on the wide report.

We really need to tighten up Coverage on the next contract. The number of times I see Coverage days that are well over blue for the first PCS run is aggravating. Why jack up my schedule for an over staffed day?

Yeah I don’t get it. If there is a holiday on the 31st why does it jack up everyone’s schedule for all the other weekends?

Holidays are only part of the issue and really only relevant in the fact that more pilots are likely to want time off. With the creation of holiday pay, we might even see coverage drop further down the list. Even a popular summer holiday like July 4th wasn't a reserve coverage award for ATL 320/737. The 320 didn't even have a single coverage trip. Reserve coverage days started out as July 5 and 13 then ended up being mostly just weekends the rest of the bid. Coverage awards are based, primarily, on trips as they stack up throughout the bid run. If every single pilot asked for every single weekend off, coverage awards (aka unstacking) would happen to every single pilot below like 60%, every month.
