The solution is to make IAs pay like normal trips and have all the premium add to a pay out pool split evenly each month to the entire group. If you get assigned a trip there are circumstances that don’t allow you to fly the trip. IAs were and should be a bad thing for both the company and the pilots.
So I work and someone else gets paid as well? No.

As evidenced by the ALV restriction. It’s there to protect pilots. Flying an IA over the restriction is no different than trying to fly over vacation.

Except this wasn't the purpose of IAs. Since it's being used as a shortcut to running GS, it unfairly excludes pilots from getting premium pay who otherwise want it or deserve it

Who, exactly, is flying "high time"?
What is "high time" anyway? (20 hours a month? 50? 80+?)
My 12 month lookback is about 800 block hours. Significantly more than most. (Narrow body, domestic, top 30% of category)
The PAS (Pilot Activity Statement) is fascinating.
What, exactly, is the "norm"?
(Someone has to actually fly airplanes. Planes don't fly themselves. Yet.)
