Valid point.

There is for reserve…

Seems like I called in well for a trip prior to the end of the footprint so that I could pick up a WS 7 day military charter trip to the UAE. The sick call created the block hour reduction overhead so that the WS paid like a GS for the same number days worked. Funny how that is. Flying internationally, when you only work 10-12 days a month but are bumping up on block hour limits, I'm sure nobody would ever call in sick using IMSAFE to make block room.

I know with a sick, you go to the bottom of the list for GS, but have they changed it for WS too, I don't remember?

Just read the pay perspective article and what a fluff piece. That's a lot of words to say: We will/have F'ed pilots on pay at least twice a day, every day this year on average (that we have been caught) and there's no way to verify what the real number is. Good luck figuring out what we owe you and if you're one of the pilots we F'ed today.

Yes, 23.P.3.e puts the pilot at the end of the list for a WS as well — if the removed rotation comes within 30 minutes of creating a FAR conflict with the trip being added.

However, you didn’t need to call in well to WS that rotation either (through PCS), as long as none of the days being added touched the footprint of your SICK rotation.

Possibly true at the time, but i was concerned that I might not be legal to pick up the WS while I was on sick status and the mil charter was not going to stay in open time past 1 PCS cycle. It was just easier/safer to call in well and pick up that 45 hour/7 day trip that blocked 15 hours.

We’re always free to make PCS changes to our schedule, outside of the SICK footprint, even while on sick leave.

Got a GFB? You’re free to PW that 4-day sitting in open time that starts the day after your sick rotation ends, even if there’s a chance your sickness may not be fully resolved by then. None of those hours can be counted toward the verification threshold following the GFB.

It would be surprising to me if that survives the next contract cycle without some change.

As good as the company is in sharpshooting the system.....the pilots are better.

But both sides will exclaim, "I never thought they would do that"

The whole evolution of IMSAFE and KINCARE over the past 15 years and what pilots can call in sick for has been changing the dynamic for negotiations. The company will come armed with data.

Well, what are they going to give up for that? There’s a reason why it’s survived so many contract cycles.

There’s also a reason why the company is voluntarily pulling back its GFB usage.

Just like all negotiations, each side will cost it out.

And just like all negotiations, some changes will affect individual pilots disproportionally depending on one's life perspectives and BES. For some, a change can be good for others the same change can defuse their whole bidding/sharp-shooting strategy.
