correct. There are former UNA pilots on the other SM platforms, who were paid for X amount of months, never furloughed, that are now Captains saying they won’t support retro for VEOP because some LOA didn’t pass by a large enough percentage regarding UNA. Flawed
logic because it was like a US Congress bill, lots of other crap in the loa that made it not a slam
dunk, still passed though.

That mentality is such a small subsection of UNAs. That’s like saying “there were old hats that voted down 20-04 because they were furloughed and now it’s the UNA’s turn”.
Do those people exist? Sure, but it was such a small number that categorizing an entire subsection of pilots this way is misleading at best and irresponsible at worst.
What “crap” was in 20-04? I don’t think anyone hated having PS, lower TLV, lower GS triggers, etc.

Very few of any. Just like all the other people of “I heard this” mafia. Designed to divide.
Never heard any UNA say this. Most were appreciative it was voted in, especially the other wins in the LOA. And this sets precedent for going forward, when it may be them on the other end. You (not you specifically) would be surprised by the newer pilots on property and how they pay attention to contracts, QOL, and all. They flew crappy regional or military schedules. Mainline is supposed to be the peak, and they want it that way.

All this time and energy wasted on a retro discussion when you need to be looking out the windscreen not the rear mirror. Escalator clause solves this for good. Keep arguing over the age of dinosaurs while management laughs, retaining you on puppet strings every 4 years. Same actions expecting different results is what?

Yeah it worked out in the end, thank god, but it was not like “oh just sit home and collect UNA pay until this is all over”.
and FWIW I’ve thanked everybody I’ve flown with for the COBRA/Furlough avoidance LOAs that were passed. Nobody has ever made it a big deal beyond “that’s what we do”.
We have 0 reason to divide the pilot group right now. Stay unified.

also there was a small but very vocal group that was trying to torpedo the LOAs. I never heard anything close to a compelling reason not to vote for 20-04 but I remember daily FB posts by a particular CA about how we can’t possibly vote for this and how awful it is. I don’t think it helps that this person is one of the main FB posters now asking for unity and we need to be resolved on retro.
to be clear, we absolutely need to support retro for everyone, including retirees. I think most of us owe it especially VEOPers because I think the only reason DL didn’t furlough was because of all the early outs.

I have a short memory what did they get? I’d say the VEOPs got the best deal, if you were 58 or older or anyone contemplating retirement it was the deal of the century. WB pilots who managed to go NQ got a huge amount of paid time off. There were lots of good deals going around.
