Don’t be too surprised. 30-40 posts on retro on FB, 300 + posts on the new style coat…

One of the many reasons you include retirees in the retro is so the 63+ crowd doesn’t try to accept a substandard contract just to grab something before they head out the door. You want them to hold out for a good contract.

Not sure the dynamics at Alaska but didn’t they just vote in a deal without retro? The bar has been set (low). People are going to single issue vote based on retro vs bonus?

Hate to say it...but end of the day what votes, the retiree or the active pilot? I am 100% for retro to include those who left before us (retiree or VEOP) be paid up to their departing date...but the union knows who votes and what vote counts...It's the active pilots. The eskimos just set a bar that isn't necessarily something Delta pilots would accept, however, it proves the point that when given a choice, pilot's will always vote what helps themselves out, and it is hard to argue for or against that.

You mean like a min balance parting gift? Believe it or not there are those on the MEC pushing for this.

I don't believe we have ever received full retro!

I was told C2K (2001) had pay rates back to the amendable date

They had retro. I believe even for retirees. It just wasn't a lot of money..and it was structured a bit differently. Their contract wasn't as overdue as ours though either. I think only about a year, maybe less.
