I don't think you can remove FMLA once placed. It's likely the individual puts FMLA down and then picks up on non-FMLA days. Same way a pilot who puts an APD down

I know on sick leave, you can call in sick for a 12 day and call in well after the 1st day and then get a GS or WS pickup. Is FMLA the same way?

It happened just as I posted. A premium (IA) 1 day trip was awarded on day 1 of a trip dropped using FMLA 13 days prior.

There are lots of days to drop and swap trips with negative reserve coverage. I do it ALL the time

FMLA use is fine. GS are fine, but combining the two will fairly or not raise eyebrows.

To paraphrase the lawyer in “The Big Easy”. Combining FMLA with a GS creates a unique environment for coincidence.

The IA doesn't require hitting the GS trigger.

I'm really surprised you can IA/GS over the footprint of a trip dropped using FMLA.

Probably the EXACT reason she waited for the IA. Smart, if you are trying to avoid flying the credit required to meet the GS trigger and still bag premium pay. Just saying......
