I heard the Aircraft Commander that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima was 25. I'm pretty sure well trained 24 and 25 yr olds can handle a 767 to Europe/South America/Africa

Paul Tibbetts was 30 when he dropped Little Boy.

Charles Sweeney who dropped Fat Man on Nagasaki was 25. I had to look that one up.

Nah, it’ll be fine.

We learn by doing.

I’m sure the 24 year-old RJ skipper who was doing 3-5 legs a day in and out of blizzards and thunderstorms in ORD, CLT, DEN and LGA can handle it.
Point of order. Quite a bit of those couple hundred hours is PIC.

I heard delta hired someone with zero PIC as a “favor” and then made him a check airman as soon as he had the required flight time. That can’t be true…….

They probably should. Nobody is “commanding” an airliner these days. Managing, sure.

I see your point but 100% disagree. When the sh** hits the fan - the PI COMMAND is in command and is held to blame with whatever happens.

100% disagree. You either are not a Captain, or, fundamentally doing and thinking about it completely wrong if you are.

You may be tactful, but you’re still in command.

Not sure why people think the NATS is this complex impossible feat that only more experienced pilots will understand.
They have dumbed down the NATS and transAtlantic flying to the point where it isn't any harder than a transcon. As a matter of fact, it is probably much easier.

You definitely aren't a 121 Captain
