Pilots hired at Delta after 2007 have no idea how bad this airline once was. I once flew an entire 4 day trip with 12 legs and never left within 30 minutes of being on time with zero weather issues. RA showed up and the first thing he did was introduce analytics because as he stated if you don’t know what the problem is you can’t fix it. Pilot forums hammered him for it at the time. Complained about having to respond to info requests on delays. 3 years later we were a on time machine and yields went from well below industry average to industry leading.
Not gonna argue RA - I wish he was back.
As far as your other thing about on time departures/arrivvals. It's still a thing. Come in from ZUR and wait 45+ minutes for a gate. Nothing new and the analytics ain't gonna solve it. Remember the dwell time push?
PS- ditch the P codes

This place used to be fun. And let's not forget no airline was good from 2001-2012ish.

One day you're in San Juan eating Mofongo. Next day soaking up more Sun eating wings at Hatricks in TPA. Next Day in BOS getting a great workout in the full service gym below the hotel. Next day great views of the mountains then Grand Canyon then start the approach into Vegas. Then head to the blackjack table.

Used to be fun? This place is a blast. Even ASA was fun but Delta on its worst day is way more fun than ASA.

You weren't here back then so I understand.

You made the assertion, I asked for your proposed alternative. Nobody is fighting here man, relax.
I get too much data can be a bad thing, I just don't know about getting rid of the one data point we are given to provide direct feedback.

I am no RG fan, my posts prove that. Other than the fatigue comment others have hit on, I’d give that memo an overall positive. He has one more chance in my book. I’ll keep a cautiously optimistic open mind. Though I doubt anything good happens. Hope I am wrong.

I have read some really great emails that have come from some of the worst managers ever. Talk is cheap, and he’s a tone deaf clown. I have zero expectations that anything will meaningfully improve with respect to our crappy rotations, but if it does, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
If things get better in the next 6-9 months, I’ll gladly praise RG, but sadly I think it will be more of the same.

What IS an issue is the impact of delay coding on every other department. Gate agents come to work in fear of losing their jobs if they don’t get the door slammed shut at D-13. Their metrics have become increasingly stringent over the years, to the point that customer service is being impacted in a negative way. I routinely see agents treat passengers and employees like absolute garbage just to hit D-metrics. ACS management has lost sight of the bigger picture.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, United recognized this issue and the impact it was having on customer service back in 2021. They decided to eliminate delay coding altogether. The result has been negligible in terms of their on-time numbers, and positive in terms of customer service.
