My FO and I were discussing this last night. Could the company strategy be to intentionally pay 23M7 to the wrong person, then later on pull it back without paying the right person? I wouldn’t put it past them.

No pilot should ever let the company pull back 23M7 pay without verifying that another affected pilot was properly identified and paid. There are plenty of resources for verifying that, including an ALPA STS if necessary.

Paying the wrong person also opens up other pandora’s boxes for the company, including owing missed slip pay if the incorrect pay code improperly lowered a pilot’s pickup limit.

Funny, we never had the amount of "deal making" for anything prior to their arrival, and we did hire quite a few of them in very recent years. From my understanding "deal making" was quite prevalent at Sky West. I mean, they are not a real union operation anyway, and from what I've been told deal making was actually encouraged and advocated there. I guess old habits die hard.

Do you have any proof that the majority of deal making is coming primarily from ex SkyWest pilots?

Dl has been hiring SkyWest pilots for decades. The “deal making” came about when the company unilaterally reinterpreted 23.m.7. It wouldn’t be happening without that. I personally have not seen any deal making from the skywest pilots I know here and I know/fly with a bunch.

and as far as deal making there, it’s just different rules for scheduling there. It’s not deal making as much as it is just playing by a different set of rules. Plenty of things are perfectly legal there that are against the PWA here.
