What profanity? Saying I’m ****ed off? That’s only profane word I used. I don’t want to pick up off swap board or pick up white slips. I want to fly minimum schedule, then do a GS for double pay. Like I said before, I tried for a couple IA’s. I commute so I go for the ones that start with a deadhead to me. I just sit on hold until they are covered by someone else.

Work smarter, not harder.

Some would actually say that’s how things should be. Years ago an ALPA National chair (I can’t remember which one) said something like “I don’t like the concept of membership ratification, when what is truly needed is a Negotiating Committee that takes their job seriously and an MEC that will hold them accountable.”

I personally don’t agree with that, and I would guess that most don’t. But, the concept has merit. Why elect your reps if we need MEMRAT for everything? There’s a middle ground of course. I don’t have a problem with this MOU not going to MEMRAT. It would have easily passed.

The slips themselves aren’t the issue…and you know it. The problem is (in addition to the hapless scheduling department with their many issues) the infinite use of Auto Accept, in and out of base, WS and GS, with ZERO intent or ability to fly any of them, always ignored, never proactively accepted or rejected, to force slow the trip coverage process, to then get rewarded for the deliberate slowdown, to possibly get some of that 23.M.7 honey. It is almost like pilots deliberately taxiing at 5 knots max—“for safety you know, and how dare you question my taxi speed”—and somehow getting paid bonus pay as a result.

Look at the 23.M.7 logs for some of the narrowbody categories. You’ll see a lot of the same names. You may even pretend that they are “harmed” pilots. I do not.

I personally am unaffected by most of this. My category (WBA) by its very nature doesn’t have as much of all this going on, although I was woken up the other day at 0330 by an IA call. I don’t think it unreasonable that many are upset, who used to consistently get a GS via the PWA process that worked fairly well for years, who now no longer can.

But hey, at least the “harmed” pilots are all getting paid a lot to do very little. That’s what the labor movement is all about, right?

We now have first come first serve. Those of us that are honest see the trip in open time. Wait for Arcos GS call that never comes. Finally get the IA robocall. Immediately try to get through to a scheduler. Sit on hold for 20-30 minutes, then hang up when trip is no longer in open time. Check trip coverage to see it go to junior pilot as his third of the month. Wonder how he’s getting through consistently and I’m not. I truly don’t believe he’s dealmaking, but he obviously has a way to get through. Move on without premium pay that I had gotten consistently since 2021. Hear about how great 23.M.7 is for everyone else and how they’re getting paid to do nothing. Also hear about how we’re sticking it to the company and all the leverage is on our side. Look at my own schedule and paycheck and realize I am personally being harmed. Told to suck it up and wait until the company comes to us. It is what it is.

By your own admission you are being negatively affected by the problem but don’t care to have any input or vote on the solution?

this MOU is a failure

our reps didn’t have the respect for you and me to get any input or data from us or even let us know it was being worked upon before the solution was given to us

a flawed solution that has no effective date and no teeth and took the penalty away from two other grievances to once again bring the company into compliance

stop acting like your fellow pilot is the problem and start taking issue with the company and the process

Both can be at fault. Two things can be true at once.

I don't mind the MOU because it really didn't do anything. No issues were solved other than fixing the free for all once programmed.

But mark me down for "trade away auto accept."

This x 1,000. Consistent chances at green slips are a thing of the past. I now fly all my months at straight pay. The coverage fiasco is a non-debatable financial hit to the non-local mid-seniority pilots.

For every pilot whose name is listed repeatedly in the 23M7 logs, there are 100 other pilots trying to be him/her with the same slip configuration.

The names that you see repeatedly are the ones who happen to be the most senior of that large group, AND in the right place at the right time. They literally have no control over how many times they appear relative to everyone else.

Direct your hate at the game, not the player. Better yet, direct your hate at management for all the times they’ve taken advantage of loopholes, and be glad that pilots have won a single battle for once.

The only theory I can come up with for guys snagging IAs without making any deals with CS would be looking at OT, checking report times and trying to repeatedly call CS and still on hold waiting to get the CS IA call before you get connected to a scheduler.

Or, get a call for IA for one trip and while on hold you get the call for additional trips. You may not be first in line for the first but you'll be ahead of the pack (theoretically) for the following IA's
