Prior to the 23M7 palooza this was called credit surfing. If you are comfortable with the risk involved it was an excellent way to improve QOL. Dropping as much of your schedule as possible and picking up broken trip was a way of life for many, myself included on months I chose REG over RES. Now that is reserved for the top of the category and results in 23M7, silver slips, and quick slips. Until the environment changes (read overuse of 23M7) anyone who can take advantage of the situation is and should. This is what drives value to the group and increases negotiating capital for all. As they say don't hate the playa, hate the game. This will be resolved over the next contract, but the time frame seems to be lengthening by the hour. Farming may be considered derogatory but it drives value down the list in better trips available for pickup and eventual $$ for the negotiating committee to drive value. This is the result NOT the cause. The cause is management actions.

it's very simple when you look at the intent of the SS. It is to take flying out of OT, not keep it in. There would be no gain for the company to pay double for a trip just to have the same amount of flying put back into the pot.

 

Got called for a QS and then it NOOP nothing on daily coverage or 23M7 reports. I see other NOOP trips on 23M7, so is this supposed to pay someone? I was too late on the QS but might be close on the 23M7. Seems like this has happened a few times now and I don’t know what the right result should be. <shrug, wait for the next one> I don’t want the company let off the hook if people are supposed to be paid. Especially me… still p!ssed about my PB days.

 

I've been paid 23m7 for a trip that went NOOP. They haven't taken it back (yet). I'd call and ask about it if you don't see the trip on the 23m7 report.

 

or just throw a pay inquiry into crew assist. They will be right back with you in 4-6 months…

 

... with a response that says something along the lines of "the process is automated, if 23M7 was due, it would be in the logs."

I put a crew assist case in for this to see what happens. I noticed there's a case in que that I put in over a month ago that the company hasn't responded to. Which I forgot (the entire reason for this BS system) so is a first denial required to start an ALPA case? This sh!t is getting old, being denied pay only to get something maybe eventually. If you remember to do it. Wage theft is not too strong a description. Anybody?
