When the windows system hit we thought it was the greatest thing ever. You were only on short call 6 hours every day. The number the negotiations team needs and I am sure they have it is how are reserve utilization compares to the other major airlines. I have no idea what that number is however if it’s significantly less the company has a point. If it’s about the same they need to hire more.
The Whitlow Decision was like 25+ years ago. If the company can't figure out reserves in that span of time, then I have no sympathy.

Totally irrelevant.

But maybe we can discuss the wonder of Palm Pilots. That would be more useful than the above paragraph. Please, stop trying to stay relevant. You have zero skin in the game.

For the newbs in case your are scratching your heads about Whitlow here's a quick synopsis:

James Whitlow served as the Deputy Chief Counsel for the FAA and on November 20, 2000, he provided an interpretation of FAR 121.471 which is known as the Whitlow letter. It came in response to an October 15, 2000 episode of 60 Minutes titled "Sleepless in the Cockpit".

I’m very curious, too. General’s original post there didn’t get the fanfare it deserved, and the tail end of RG’s recent letter makes it sound plausible.

Together, we have an opportunity to deliver a contract framework that more effectively supports our pilots, strengthens our operation, and positions Delta for long‑term success. We remain engaged in active negotiations with your union leadership and are committed to achieving meaningful improvements in the near term.

I started a 3 day today and I’m already on Captain 3 for day 1 and have 3 more the rest of the trip. 6 captains to cover a 3 day. Glad we have the staffing for this.

Maybe you're one of those FO's people don't like flying with and they called in sick.....I kid, I kid.....kinda....as Captains we can't bid avoid FO's. But there are other means to the end.

Nah. He’s trying to put pressure on DALPA to agree to a cheap deal. Nothing more than that.

Let’s not forget, he’s a pathological liar and a complete imbecile. Zero credibility. I’ll be getting my info from DALPA/my rep. Not from Gumm or whichever company union-buster writes his emails.

Please take a deep breath and give it a few weeks to run its course one way or the other.
