One suggestion I had in my survey was a 5 hr min day for domestic and a 6+hr one for international.

One good move by this NC was to keep the new FTDT off the table. We're going to have more opportunities to negotiate this type of item.

Of course, some already shiver to wonder how much we'll pay for this...

I'll take a look at it. And I did have the FO number off for some reason because 5/1/2004 should be $162.12. The $140.40 should still be right, I'll go back and check the table to double check the calculation.

True but this really does not help all the LAX 73 guys who start their three day trips with red-eyes. Yeah, I know there are some that sign in prior to 2200 (not very many) and I wouldn't be surprised if these slowly get pushed back to after a 2200 sign in. Gate availability may limit a quick change but over time all the originating red-eyes will probably sign in later than 2200.

The flights that sign in earlier than 2200 for the most part do not fly to hubs so there is no limitation imposed with connecting flights. Yes aircraft and gates will have to be adjusted but it can be done.

Bottom Line for the LAX 73N Guys: Sorry, but for the most part you will be among the few DAL Pilots still flying the 10:30 hour three day trips.

They could say we were trying to do you a favor so stick it. But all of the talk about fleeting opportunities means it was not just a favor for us.

And I don't know why this has to be done quicker than the 717 deal was done. Seems just as big a deal.

Also, about 2015. If we pass this and in 2015 the economy is going gangbusters and they've merged us with Hawaiian or what have you, they'll probably have everything right where they want and then move to a long drawn out section 6 because that's a better deal for them if the economy is good. There's nothing here to me that says this is step 1 of 2 to restoration of anything.

I think the leverage comes from the fact the RLA never puts time on our side. Delta has. They seem to want a deal done now. If we say no, I don't think they take it as an insult and walk away until 2015. I doubt they're emotional about this and I doubt they put so much effort into this as to be angry it was pushed aside.

And if they do get mad and draw this out, I'm okay with that. I'd rather have this contract then that one.

You know once they have 325 large RJs, won't that be 70 or so more than the number of DC-9s and 732s that the two airlines had combined 15 years before?

FtB: That is one of my concerns.

I also am not naive enough to realize that joint application for mediation means they will accept it. I fully expect to tell us to go back and talk for another year to a year and a half.

They also would probably do that in March.

We all know consolidation is coming. We all know that DAL wants to be a player. We know Anderson thinks way outside the box, and the next event may not be an airline, assets or a combination thereof. We do know that they need access to capital and with the debt where it is at; they can't. I am sure as the day is long that redoing these CPA's and leases change that debt figure significantly.
