Tilden and Anderson

Has the meeting between Alaska CEO, Brad Tilden and Richard Anderson been discussed? They are meeting tomorrow to announce Delta and Alaska's latest steps in Seattle to include new service and product enhancements. I was curious about what time this meeting will occur and if it is open to the public.

Timbo,

Do you happen to live in northern Kentucky and drive a blue Cooper Mini?

I was just driving behind one and the license plate said "Timbo".

Nothing of substance in your post.

What exactly is it about the current policy manual that you don't like? What changes would you recommend that would improve the pay, working conditions, benefits of Delta pilots?

What changes would you recommend that would improve teamwork? Unity? Reduce political BS?

Could we have done better ? maybe, could we have done worse ? maybe. We will never know. To judge this contract 2 months in might be a little premature but my impression of this is some no voters tend to marginalize the majority and insinuate that we somehow don't have the wisdom and knowledge of the exalted and all knowing no voters. I like to read all aspects and views on issues, there are some gems I find in opposing views. If the vote had been no I was all in regardless of the eventual outcome because the majority of my fellow pilots had deemed the TA inadequate but that didn't happen. Two years from now while we are getting ready for the next contract might be a good time to reflect on how good or bad this contract is, time will tell.

Good post finis.

or sailor, those who voted no have the maturity to move on and hope for the best despite the fear we'll need fewer pilots going forward and of course concerned of the precedence of buying our own jets by giving the company the larger and more profitable regional jets they wanted.

So either they're lying to me about their vote (doubt it) or they're honestly okay to satisfied with it. Once again, you're putting words in the mouths' of other people. What's so wrong with someone doing their due diligence and then being satisfied with the results?

And did you miss the memo about the DC-9 bring the most profitable fleet?

And what's so wrong with the company making money? It's like you want to financially punish them for being fiscally conservative. Would you punish your kid for putting his allowance in savings?

Finis72, It'll be a lot sooner than 2 years from now. I was a no voter until I called my Rep. He assured me we will never see those two paultry 3% raises, because we will be back in negotiations by March, 2013, as we merge with... a player to be named later. He didn't know who, but Richard is on record as saying there would be more consolidation and Delta would be a playa'.

I just hope he was right, because if we are stuck with this POS for another 3 years, it is going to suck to be junior, and stay junior even longer, no doubt.

BUT... as we have just seen (and felt) if/when we do merge with someone, it may only result in more Synergy (ie. shrinkage) which means more stagnation for the bottom half of the list.

Hahaha! Nope, I'm in cental FL, south of MCO, but my 16yr. old daughter wants me to BUY HER a Mini Coop, so don't tell her!

I used to have a plate that said, PILE-IT, from back in my cancelled check flying days (nights), when we piled it over here, and piled it over there.

Interesting...so the results, as debatable as they are (trading jobs for pay), justify the means? When the results turn out to be more inline with what the "opposition" suspected, you try to retcon entire process.

Ahhh, teamwork....I suspect your version of that is "you guys really need to go along with what we tell you". And this belies your complete misunderstanding of the situation you find yourself in. Here's a clue...this isn't your classroom in B school where parroting then professor's text on "Effective Leadership" gets you brownie points.

The pilots have lost trust in the the process, despite being pragmatists. Without that trust, there is no unity. You would attempt to bludgeon pilots into "unity", without understanding the true source of the problem.

Oh, and the stuff you call "politcal BS"...that's called "the process"' and yea, it's important. When the process is transparent, the pilots trust the system, and when you have their trust, THEN, you get their unity for free.
