Dude, give them a break. They just bought/merged with NW. They have to figure out how to oust all that flying ala Western, PanAm. Yuck, a SEA base Bubba sayz...

You do realize that by the end of next year DCI/Airlink will have shrunk 25% from its combined peak number of aircraft, right? And that there will be over 600 DCI pilots on furlough by the end of September? (360 plus CMR, 136 ASA, 110 MAH plus others from Mesa/RAH not directly attributable to DCI)

Again, look at our losses for this quarter and I bet they would like to see those pesky guaranteed profit contracts gone. To bad they signed 10 year deals with those carriers. An iron clad scope section could have possibly helped out the powers that be by preventing the very signing of these contracts.
Also, we need to do this now when there is a management team in place that sees a limited role for the RJ. Do we really want to fight this when we get a Leo-esque leader back at the helm?

I commute through DTW all the time, and frequently get asked how I like Richard Anderson by the gate agents? They keep telling me to watch out for his true colors when the merger is complete. It seems as if they all think we are going to get screwed by him. What bad blood does he have with NWA and should we be concerned?

Sailing:
Since officially the represented members of this organization are told nothing about the representations being made on the members' behalf, we know nothing about what happens behind closed doors until after the fact.
I'm not pleased that negotiations are routinely entered into without polling, or communications.
We have elections this fall. I think some good guys have an excellent chance of winning. Based on their prior work in C44 to get some good resolutions passed, I'm hopeful they'll provide a little pressure on the rudder to turn this great ship ALPA around on outsourcing our work.

As far as I can tell, this is the way it has been at DALPA for quite some time and is apparently not going to change with the current administration. C44 would almost certainly be a must for supporting change to the current methods.

Our MEC is dead set against scope restoration. My understanding is that LM is concerned that some "single issue" guy will win and break up the "vote by acclimation" culture on outsourcing our jobs.
Bottom line - the questions of DC9's and 5500 series 757 retirements have not been answered. I'm with ACL, if the enemy abandons high ground, move our troops in and strengthen positions. There will be more attempts to run our scope blockade.
