Ever get airborne last night 80kts?
We ran the engine, that went down some. Mx said "you're not going anywhere" and called out the engine shop people. They came out... "ok you're good to go!" "aroo? Did you fix it?" "Nah, it's within 60 drops a minute now." Top notch mx care for a plane that didn't really have to be in position for another 18 hours! |

I feel they have given answers to all of those(except the fewer pilot one, but I've yet to see math show less pilots will be required), but the answers are simply not satisfactory for everyone.
But I wouldn't say they gave answers or solutions to the problem but rather they authored more jumbo RJs and more pilot efficiency and seem to be okay with the Pinnacle deal, so really there is no problem requiring a solution. |

At least we'll able to brag to my children that I was one of only 1000ish pilots hired by Delta over a 13 year period. :) I'm still disappointed at the "welp, nothing to see here" by the standard union line towers. I'm intrigued to see what happens with the MEC meeting, but don't really have my hopes up for any actual action to stand up to the Moak empire. The irony is that it totally proves the DPA's point on the conflict of interest in ALPA. |

And while I'm on the "mind blown" google image search, my son will wonder this one day: http://d2tq98mqfjyz2l.cloudfront.net...1803409697.jpg |

So I have this concept in my head,
http://cdn3.hark.com/images/000/098/...2/original.jpg a board game, chutes and ladders, but for Atlanta pilots. It will have chutes, and just one ladder. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps2512a1ca.png I'm thinking like at least several thousand people will wa... will play it. |

I don't think Jack posted that link to comment on the DPA. At this point, I don't even think they are worth the debate.
Since they chimed in about DPA, one thing I like immediately better about DPA, is a willingness to LISTEN instead of pushing Ford and Harrison (compliments of Delta Air Lines) talking points and then acting like a dictatorship. Transparency at D(ALPA) is pretty much nonexistent these days. They are rude and talk down to their constituents. They have a structure that is too hidden under the guise of "strategy", the average line pilot feels completely powerless. Even if they write their representatives many still feel this way...mushroomed as the local reps are trying to decide if they should toe the ALPA line with a "YES SIR" forever with little information or voice. It just seems they continue to operate in an arrogant way giving the proverbial bird to anyone who dares question their authority or back door decision making. Anyway, back to the question, will Delta continue to be the great shrinking airline, compliments of Air France/KLM, Aeromexico, Virgin Atlantic, GOL, China Airlines/China Eastern, Virgin Australia, Delta Connection and more on the way with Contract 2016? When do we as a union say enough is enough? The prospects of advancement from a pilots perspective (as retired pilots are not replaced) will bring more suffocation to an already two decade wait for something to break free. |

you don't think a pilot could run a major airline? why?
because they don't have the foresight necessary to handle the current airline industry? or maybe they'd get run over in high stakes negotiations? I'm just kind of curious why we shouldn't trust a pilot to run an airline but we should trust them to run our union and negotiate our contracts against the very same seasoned professionals that'd eat them up if they were the ceo? of course with that in mind and with the way things are going right now ... i concede you have a good point. |
