Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
RA has always been willing to pay for labor peace, even at NWA. I think he struck gold doing it here, because like I said, this place would have been a USAir style train wreck if we would have furloughed after the merger.
I was skeptical about the lack of fences after the SLI too. But, I also think it has done wonders to get us together quickly and moving forward. Add in positive IT initiatives to make the operation run smoother and we are set to kick some serious butt in the near future.
I wish we would grow because I think we are leaving money on the table around the world....for sure domestically with our current load factors. But, then again you need to be glad I ain't runn'en this place

Hopefully, for baby 80's sake, Mr.s 80, and everyone involved, including us, his beard doesn't grow that fast.
That was way back when, when the attacks came from rational places. Now, they just come out of nowhere. I sense grumpiness amongst the heard. Fear of stagnation will do that. I sure hope the Oracle brings good news with the FEB/MAR AE.
Yeah, agree completely. Just observing and talking to guys when we do bounces for landing currency.

As far as I can tell they're doing well and I have no reason to doubt them.
What I'd like to hear from Network is what they think of multiple regional carriers.

NewK,
I guess I never thought we would hire and yes I thought it was bogas for SD to imply we were. All you had to do was look at how little the reserve guys on the wide bodies were flying to know we were carrying extra pilots. Add to that pictures of 80s reserve beard as proof we were carrying some extra narrow body guys too

Ferd,
Not just WB, but all over. In the LAX 73 category almost everyone is still in the first RAW bucket. We consistently have two things in Open Time - Jack and Squat! Some reserve pilots have 0 hours. I worked 1 leg this month and did not spend a night in a hotel.
We all realize that summer will be more indicative of our staffing needs, but with the recently added summer staffing mitigation in the current contract I will say we are overstaffed.
On the bright side we made it so burdensome for the company to furlough that we carried extra guys for a couple of years. The downside of that is when things do get going again (hopefully next fall) we have the ability to take up a lot of slack.
Scoop
wintry mix in Atlanta on Friday.
You know what that means, the idiots that can drive around here year round become exponentially worse while those who used to drive up north in the snow think they're somehow drive fast on untreated roads.
And we have to de-ice at the airport...

Every time I hear a network person talk I find that they seem to know just about every route we do fly, don't fly, want to fly and never would fly and have a legitimately good sounding reason for what they do.

I realize it's all yield management, but like I said, I can't help but feel we are leaving money on the table.
747-800s between Hotlanta and Orlando!! Yeah yeah that's the ticket (followed by 747-800 between Phoenix and everywhere/anywhere)
PS.....warning, Flight Attendant rumor.......we are going to take some of the VA slots and use them out west to take on British Air, ie PHX, LAS.

Absolutely.........and I also wonder how much they get out of their cubicles and see how full real airplanes are vs what their computers analysis are telling them.
