Ughhhh

Well I still have to believe that commuting to a crappy line is better than commuting to reserve! BUT LAX is nuts this month. 39 hr credit trip (4day and 3day) back to back... Gotta love 24 hour rest in hotels!

When will this end!!!!

HA adding another Japan destination from HNL---Sendai

FIIGMO 02-14-2013 06:43 AM

"It has been the most successful airline restructuring in history, and we had been very focused from the outset on creating the most value for our owners," AMR CEO Tom Horton told Reuters.

This is from todays paper!!

I think this guy is looking out for numero uno! This merger just in SLI issues alone proves he is duping the shareholders and stealing the silver!

Or did I just get into a bad mood from looking at the bid results?

Interesting. I guess they've recovered pretty well from the Tsunami.

Someone with more info than me may chime in, but my understanding is that he would have made more with a standalone bankruptcy emergence. IOW, merging was not in his personal best interest. Also, Parker will be the post merger CEO as I understand it. So...Horton is trying to take care of #1, yes, but he's not as good at that as some are. Case in point, his ego prevented him from giving in to the AA pilots before USAir got them in their merger sights. He did a poor job of walking the razors edge.

God I hope not. 1472 pilots, prob 1300 senior to me, bringing in ZERO wide bodies, then taking 1300 Widebody Captian slots before me. That would pretty much take any chance of a widebody CA slot away from me. Unless we gave them a 50 year fence on anything bigger than they bring to the table, but we know that isn't going to happen.

I think there would be fences, we would want to fence them on the 737 and they would want to fence us out of their bases.

Do fences make for good neighbors? In most ways we've done better not being fenced (mostly) vs NWA/Republic. Donnnooooooo

Why not? Fence them in SEA and on the 737.

Interesting opinion article in the Dallas paper/blog yesterday about this, I'll see if I can find it. What you say is mostly what they thought too. Horton is being shown the door......sorta like we did with Steenland (thank gawd). There is actually a term limit on his time as Chairman and Parker will have all the cards in choosing the management team.

Very true! 737 only. They are proud of their product (and should be) but DAL and AMR are very big contributors to their bottom line. So (AS) being too comfortable at status quo is not healthy. I sincerely hope we dont aquire AS but if we do, since their expectations were only narrow body careers that is how it should play out.....

But IMHO Alaska is too expensive to buy and could be replaced with cheap Airbus' from France and growing from within is a lot cheaper than buying them. If AS plays ball and does not get to smug then the deal with DAL at least will stay in place for a while. HA has A LOT more positives than Alaska does (big issue is AS is too expensive) fewer pilots, common fleet, route authorities, and like it or not the pilots will buy off on it more so than an AS takeover. Not that pilots have a whole lot of say.... just sayin!
