Profit sharing does double on the part that goes over 2.5 billion, not on the part below........

Looking back at my ta stuff, that's not how the union sold it. Looking at my contract, I believe you. It's not real clear which is bad for us.

Without diving into the PWA and just looking at the TA 2012 roadshow that is correct. Here is the slide:

A Portion of Profit Sharing is converted to pay
  • Currently all employees share a profit sharing pool that is 15% of all profits up to $2.5 billion and 20% above that
  • Pilots’ share of the pool is about 1/3
  • Delta is changing the formula to 10% of all profits up to $2.5 billion
    still with 20% above that
  • This TA converts the maximum profit sharing differential into
permanent pay increases that are not dependent upon Delta’s
    profit
  • Pilots wanted more guaranteed income and less “at risk” income

Then they had a chart highlighting the previous year for $1.5B PTI and the changes. Basically $1.5B PTI, $225M/15% goes to all employees, pilots get $75M.

Under new plan, $150M/10% would've gone to all employees and new pilots share is $50M. But the pilots got a 2% permanent pay ate increase to $42M and pilots gain from conversion is $17M.

The pilots gain was the + permanent pay increase + new pilots share - current pilots share. Or $42 million pay increase + $50 million in our share of a $1.5B PTI - what we would've gotten before at $75M = us coming out ahead by $17M.

Of course if the company made a $3B PTI, instead of $158M in profit sharing we get $117M to split plus our pay raise + $42M pay rate increase equals a pilot gain of $0. So we beak-even above $2.5B.

Infallible.

Oh and please let me remind you of something. We just won a major scope opportunity with NRT. This would not have been possible in a confrontational style tactic of the APA which has taken 15 years to get nowhere.

And I hate the DPA.

Thank you,
Mustache

Don't forget to include the fact we won the hope of "bounce back" recently.

What are the odds of Delta placing an aircraft order at the Paris air show?

Doug Masters 06-15-2013 07:06 AM

Second hand info from someone who saw SD at 31 flavors: We are not losing as many 757s as initially thought. Thats all the details he gave me. Anyone else heard this?

Please come in at your earliest convenience to have a good faith discussion if you are really interested in being a Delta pilot or not.

Can you check the sim schedule and see if we are leasing our 777 sim to Emirates that day for their phase interviews. Seeing as how they are hiring 777 Captains and you are displacing to 717's, might as well walk across the sidewalk and see what an aggresive competitor that is hiring qualified flight crews looks like.

Can you explain "good faith" as it applies to our JV scope.

Sounds great but is anyone else worried that with all this growth we're about to experience* and that we're only down like 1000 pilots in 3 years, which is more retirements than we have coming up in the next 3-4 years, and there's no money in hiring pilots, that we might eventually have to hire some pilots to slightly reduce the rate of shrinking the number of pilots? Capacity restraint, leveraging synnergies, yielding to LCC's to preserve...yields? At least the new peak hour hump is in March. So once we get past that we're home free for another year.

And maybe, just maybe, the 717's are delayed but the 76's are coming anyway, AF/KLM/AZ have no intention of reducing anything beyond the general bilateral reductions so you can rebalance, Virgin ain't reducing anything either and you ain't growing into what they currently do for sure.

So what do I have to do to get you into a scope rebalance today?

OK, aren't I just the worst?

Given the huge displacement drive ... crew resources apparently does not find that story credible. IMHO some of these displacements are part of the FTDT changes ....

Also, there is positive correlation between the Company's bad faith on JV scope and staffing reductions.
