Given the huge displacement drive ... crew resources apparently does not find that story credible. IMHO some of these displacements are part of the FTDT changes ....
What do you mean about the FTDT changes though? Do you think they are actually dellusional enough to displace 100 pilots in an attempt to fantasy staff 9 block hour days with no more "legal to start legal to finish"? |

Actually these displacements are the strongest evidence yet that the 75's are staying around longer. While there's no money in hiring pilots, there's clearly money in binge ....

What are the odds of Delta placing an aircraft order at the Paris air show?
I was thinking the same thing. I heard from a LCA last week, both Boeing and Airbus came to ATL to put on a sales pitch. Boeing was pitching the 777-300 as the replacement to the 747. Not sure what Airbus was pitching, Richard said he's not interested in the A350, so I'm guessing they were pitching the A330 in some new variation. The LCA mentioned there is a Board of Directors meeting in July, they may wait until then to make the announcement, amid the glowing earnings reports. I'm pretty sure DAL's fiscal year runs June-June, so they will be announcing some big earnings this year, obviously, come the July BOD meeting. |

So I think this one has legs.

Hiring FAs makes money, hiring pilots does not.

Mechanic came up to the cockpit last night with a story.
We came this close to losing a Mad Dog two nights ago on approach to ATL. Severe hail damage. Shattered both outer windshields. Destroyed the leading edge devices. Radome gone. Horizontal and vertical stabs shredded. Huge dents all over the fuselage. etc. etc. Very, very bad. Airplane diverted to GSO I think he said. Mechanics who were sent to assess the thing said they are surprised that it landed. Said it will be repaired but its going to take a long time. Also some very interesting details about ATC's role in putting the crew into that storm. We're going to be hearing a lot more about this one. |
It got that severe of damage on approach into ATL and diverted to GSO?? Something doesn't sound right about that story.

Binge? I think the only thing Delta's binged on since our merger is helium baloons.
