Gold continues to drop. Good buy at $700.

The Gold Slide Isn?t Over | The Exchange - Yahoo! Finance

Gold is a bubble. The selloff is not recent. It has been going on for two years. What has changed is that we’ve entered the acceleration phase of the decline.
If you have resisted this idea up until now, you still have time to come clean with yourself. The legs on which the post-QE phase of the gold ramp was built have cracked. No hyperinflation, no systemic collapse, no fiat debasement. The biggest misconception of all, that "printing money" causes inflation, has been thoroughly discredited by anyone who followed the debate closely. In fact, collective fears seemed to have tipped in the direction of deflation.

I notice the "gold guy" on the alpa forum has been very, very quiet. Did he jump off a cliff?

I saw a new 747-800 in Atlanta Tech ops on Wednesday, it was a cargo variant. Also saw two new UPS 767s.

Don't know about the 748, but Delta Tech Ops won the contract to install blended winglets on UPS 767s.

but not a cirrus. something about that thing bothers me. I like high wing for the kids, spouse... my viewing pleasure.

one of those newer Cessna 172s with a 180 HP engine looks like one of Jesses posts to me.

Get a Husky and leave the kids with the Au Pair. Or with the wife and take the Au Pair. ;)

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian state-controlled airline Aeroflot (AFLT.ME) is considering leaving the SkyTeam alliance because of unfavorable agreements with other members, in particular U.S. Delta Air Lines Inc (DAL.N), Kommersant reported on Friday.
The newspaper cited sources close to Aeroflot's board of directors as saying the company was not happy with the development of its routes in the United States, where its partner Delta Air Lines Inc (DAL.N) offers high fares.
Aeroflot declined to comment on the report.
Dropping out of the alliance could cost Aeroflot $20 million and the airline may consider joining Star Alliance, the biggest airline marketing group, with 27 members.
As a member of SkyTeam, which brings together 19 global airlines, Aeroflot cannot undercut prices offered by other members and could be more competitive in the Star Alliance, group, Kommersant said.
The agreement to join SkyTeam in 2004 was signed in the Kremlin, a political stamp of approval largely due to close ties with Air France (AIRF.PA), the leading member.

So they are upset that once their passengers get to the US our pricing is to high? We require higher ticket prices? Not real sure what they expect would change if they shackle (no pun intended) up with star. I imagine we connect far more passengers to Aeroflot heading to Moscow then they bring Russians to Delta anyway. Be gone Aeroflot hopefully you can continue to fill those Yak's on inter Russian routes.

Never liked those communists anyway!

And they offer way more US-Russia flights to "code share" on than we do. Maybe if they join Star we can add the second SVO out of ATL again and possibly a seasonal LED a few days a week.

IMO, he did fairly excellent analysis. However, technical trend analysis is always using historic data to predict the future. It works really well in volatile markets, but can be misleading for long term future trends. In other words, he wasn't necessarily wrong. You have to always remember that the talking heads are not giving unbiased information, they are shoring up their own positions.

As for the individual, he got into a heated touchy feely debate in an LEC meeting and went silent after that.

Just to add a little balance to the topic, I don't think the economic house of cards has seen itself through its own life cycle. Currently, we have a respite from the angst of down markets with interest rates being artificially maintained at low levels. The FED is buying huge chunks of its own debt. Germany is the European economy. Gold (commodities) is just a barometer of bad economic sentiment. Most of the articles written on the topic prove (with hindsight) that the authors were just spewing non-knowledge on the topics on which they wrote for immediate consumption.

IMO, the best advice for investing is to invest, but don't get greedy. Take your profits and be happy. Cut your losses and be glad you didn't lose more. Go for a run, cookout with your family, tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities. Thank God for your blessings.

This message brought to you by the committee against commuting commuters.

What if we just drink from the lav sink? They're going to dump that water eventually anyway. I think?

If you have 1000 or more bodies below you and are living in ATL, NYC or possibly DTW, you're pretty much safe from ever being forced to commute so its easy to get on a high horse and make such assumptions. Any other base at any other seniority and you're surfing the whims of the fidgity 4th floor like everyone else.

There are plenty of DL pilots forced into other bases sometimes 3 or 4 times in 2 or 3 years. Other pilots could stay in a base but only if they took a downgrade and a massive pay cut so they commute until one day we stop shrinking to profitability and they can ride the wave back again. Many other pilots commute to stay with a plane during periods of frequent almost ADHD-ish staffing shifts like we've been in so they don't bounce through the school house every AE. Many have spoused committed to certain jobs, run other businesses, have guard duty where they live or special needs children or parents they are providing care for who have a compelling reason to stay where they are. Don't tell me they're all expected to pick up and move every time.

Not to mention that by commuting we drastically subsidize the company's skittish on the fly planing by going through training signifciantly less, not to mention taking far fewer very costly paid moves. Commuting, even factoring in the tiny effect of our commuter policy, is a net gift to the company. Big time.

What are you going to give up to take that from your employers bottom line? Hmm? You know how many 76 seaters we could buy if we added up all the stolen water, cokes, twix, twix, twix, snickers and my favorite- shortbread cookies!

Think twice before you steal from the company unless you want to be lumped in with commuting commuters.

RJ punks.
