Well there ya go. Add 88 B717s(which I somehow forgot) and you're looking at a net gain of 97 airframes. :)

Yes, although ground effect is increased w/ aspect ratio.
Watch most of the less experienced airshow performers and they'll get a bump at the beginning of a low pass as they adjust for the slightly unusual pitch attitude and control forces as they enter ground effect. You've got to push into it. Got no idea what the electric aircraft guys feel, if anything. |

Slowpaly, are you promising me they WILL NOT park any more 757's or 767's??
As others have said, there's good news out there...this echo chamber seems to be disturbed by it (except for Bar...he needs a coffee:D). As johnso points out, you're pretty dang senior and pretty dang young. You didn't get there just through attrition... I guess since every aircraft is beneath you, it's all right to act old and bitter.:) |

I'll be interested to see the updated fleet plan. The benchmark we currently have is 767 airframes at the merger.

Oh yeah, just in time to negotiate our Next Contract! You don't think we'd want to jeopardize those "Growth Widebodies" do you??
And would you agree that your initial post did not imply optimism? What I got out of it was that this would be a purely neutral transaction resulting in no growth. If that wasn't the intent if your statement, then I apologize.

While we play checkers, Richard plays chess. I am sure he has to a point. But I for one will not give in the next round.. Cliche some may say... but the scope language was nailed down and contained. I will not vote for anything that changes scope or allows more JV's regardless of the wide bodies promised.... I am just one vote and it may be "tugging on super mans cape, or spittin into the wind" but a definite no vote if scope or JV's are tied to the order.... Fiig |

I'm downright giddy about getting the 321 over the 739. The 321 is going to hold 7 more people than the 757 and the pay rate has to be negotiated. While they are likely going to be mostly replacement aircraft, that is a significant "improvement opportunity" (can I start writing alpa press releases now? :) ) and can't be taking lightly.

He's got a point, and he did reach 777A through attrition. DL employs only a handful more pilots than it did in 2001, johnso. And that's after a merger that nearly doubled its size in 2008.
At least a few of these planes will be growth, I think. |

Where did I say anything was beneath me? Where? In fact, just a couple pages ago, I said I'd bid the 717 if they opened an MCO base! All I'm saying, and pay attention this time, because I've got to go mow the lawn and get ready for work, is the Press Release said they would continue to pursue Capacity Discipline. What does that mean to you? I know you know more than me, and everybody else, but do you know more than Richard too? |
