As a matter of fact the latest Crew Resources news stated the category was overstaffed, but they were trying to figure out whether they needed to ADD 7ER FOs. :D

He is the same type of problem so many organizations have, a side liner heckling at the guys on the field about how bad they are doing. When asked for help....he will be the first to call in sick. |

But by passing it along, they enabled management to steal a lot of candy with very little in return. I agree that the consequences of this are only just beginning to be seen. Staffing the schedule with reserve pilots will become the norm.

According to the March Crew Planning newsletter, the M88 is currently overstaffed on both the A and B positions even with the additional 13 MD90s coming (130 pilots in M88 staffing world).
They say they do not plan on posting openings on the 88 on the next AE and do not need to post openings for Summer 2013 flying. As to displacements off the 88, they think enough will bid the 717 not to have to post displacements. If more than enough AE off the 88, then they may even do some backfilling if enough bid off. But right now, the 88 is overstaffed.... at 10 pilots per plane. |
