Rumor is: A passenger noticed a crack in one of the wings. Second FO went back and checked and confirmed that there was a crack and the flight returned to HNL. Of course this was a NRT Sports Bar rumor. :)

So if we get 744s, are they replacement jets or growth jets? :o

Interesting, in that press release:

"In its filing, Delta also requested approval to continue its daily nonstop service between its hub in Detroit and Sao Paulo. Delta's right to operate that flight will transfer to US Airways in 2015 as part of a previously approved slot transaction that allowed Delta to expand at LaGuardia Airport in New York. "

So, I hope we get some of those additional frequencies the DOT is allocating. I know 2015 is a bit away, but more Brazil flying is always good.

I think our management team is counting on the bilateral agreement to be fully liberalized by 2015 which would give full open skies between the two countries. Plus, all the a$$ kissing we have done with the Brazilians should/better help us with the route awards. And I agree, more Brazil is always good.

Perhaps Delta will be allowed to keep the route as a result of the AA/Us Air merger?

Maybe we can get JFK-GIG, too. On a side note, my family is going to SJD and staying at the Westin for $99 plus tax. Just need to have a copy of employee ID. I arrive on Friday, so employee doesn't have to be with them.

Hope so. It has to be one of the better ways to get to Japan.

Seems like I have noticed news of quite a few new or reestablished routes lately. Is this extra capacity or has it been pulled from somewhere else? It seems like if it were extra capacity we would need more warm bodies to fly these new routes.

Also where do you guys usually get the news for these routes?

I saw it on Deltanet.

I look at airline route.net. Do a Google search and select Skyteam. They even seem to come out with route changes before DAL announces it.
